Comic books, watching movies/TV, and hanging out with the family. I used to write for a geek site, but it has recently shut down due to lack of activity. So I'm trying to find another place to express my insane ramblings. I've been seriously considering a YouTube channel, since my son has started his own. I also write, but my writer's block and constant time restraints and mental state have put it on hold.

Try Fanfiction.net you can write stuff on there, or blogspot.

I've considered blogspot. I have no interest in getting into fan fiction. :emoji_wink: Not unless Marvel will hire me to write and actually get them back on the right path.

Here please! I'd like more company on the "crazy rambling" thing... especially from you!

Gardening
Cooking
Reading
Refinishing old furniture
Decorating
Painting (great at walls and such, suck at everything else)
Casting my favorite book series for the ideal movie experience
Writing (short stories, poetry, trying for a novel... and failing)

That's one thing I would change. Then I would sit them all in a room and explain how diversity works and how to do it right. A) You don't just highjack already established characters and just up and change the sex/color/sexual preference (with the exception of Miles Morales, because I like him). You create new characters. B) You don't then throw 100 titles a month at your readers, because not everyone can afford them all, especially at $4 or more a book. C) You don't then claim that your fans don't want diversity when you have just alienated all of them.

Also - and this goes for DC as well - quit with events every freaking year! Just give us good stories with good art! We will buy the books! We don't need Secret this and Converging that and major upheavals! Gordon Bennett, just stop and make the comics worth reading!

Gardening
Never grew a green thumb. As much as I love garden fresh veg, I can't talk myself into doing the work.
Love cooking! I used to binge cooking shows! I hate that Food Network went all reality/competition TV, because I miss just learning new recipes.
I used to read more than I do now, but I read when I can get the time. I love to read just about anything. Except mommy porn. No romance novels for me.
Refinishing old furniture
Love watching it done, never have tried it. If I had more time, I could be talked into redoing some chairs or a curio cabinet.
Decorating
My deco sense is quite off. My dream house would have movie posters, comic book art, movie memorabilia, and coffins.

What, your house doesn't have coffins?
I used to draw quite a bit (my daughter is a far better artist than I ever was), and have dabbled in painting. I once got paid to do a mural in a bedroom for a friend's son. He had this pirate themed border, and I did a tropical island with a big skull cave. It was awesome!
Casting my favorite book series for the ideal movie experience
There needs to be a thread for this! We could spend hours on that topic!
Writing (short stories, poetry, trying for a novel... and failing)
I've a few short stories, and have been trying to get a few more done so I can self-publish a collection. I also have three or four novels (maybe five) all in my head. Alas, the blank page eludes me. ant-mac has talked me through my dysfunction, so maybe this is the year. I've some poetry, but it's more of an unrhyming, free form style. It will be included with the short stories.

I actually took one of my stories and ideas I had for three others and started a screenplay. It's a horror anthology, like Tales from the Crypt, or The Vault of Horror. If only I could get a government grant...

Did I just quote the movie Help? Why yes, yes I did. That's how I rol

Yes.... I call it "bed"! Where I die every night from trying to keep up with myself and everyone else.... (what happens after I die is anyone's guess but I'd be nervous if I lived with me!)

Yeah except everyone thinks my casting choices are garbage because, as you know, we all envision books in our own heads in our own ways and although I love the idea of sharing, I'm equally afraid the thread could just descend into chaos and then get sucked into a vortex and never be seen or heard from again!

If only I could get a government grant..
I've actually had some experience with those from when I was teaching. PM me if pointers and some observations would be helpful. I love helping others give away money, especially when the money is going to people I like for worthy causes!

I'm actually self-taught. I inherited two very old steamer trunks that my Grandpa used to come over from Norway with him when he emigrated. They were in terrible shape and I wanted to fix them up and put them in my library/living room both to honor him and to use them as furniture. One made a perfect huge end table and the other, shorter one made a perfect coffee table.

I spent 8 weeks in my garage, sitting on a dolly rolling around them, stripping, then putting on a base protective coat, then lacquering them in black (probably the original color but not as shiny), then taking a brush and actual gold paint and retouching all of the hardware, right down to every single rivet holding the leather edges onto the boxes themselves. When I finished that, I ordered old hotel stickers from the 20s-40s from Grand Hotels in Morocco, India (Bombay), Asia, Europe, Rio, Monte Carlo, all over the world in places the rich and fabulous used to travel, placed them strategically all over the trunks and then put a protective coat over the top of all of it.

And because my house is a rather eclectic collection of Asian, Russian, Italian and "mutt-like" paintings by average people (along with items we've collected traveling ourselves) I found in antique stores and Good Will and then framed... well, every room looks like an "organized" mish-mash of stuff going from old porcelain teapots to a black stone "World Clock" that desperately needs to go to the repair shop! There is a method to my madness but it definitely does not look like a home done by Ethan Allen or Better Homes & Gardens (I've used an old metal wheelbarrow as a planter for annuals and it just sits there blooming in one of my beds next to a full sized wooden wine cask (Cab. Sauv.) with a rain chain draining into it so I could find a way to water out of the barrels instead of the tap.

My dream house would have movie posters, comic book art, movie memorabilia
This, CS, constitutes an actual theme around which you could in fact, decorate a house (or at least one room if that's all you can get surrendered to you). I am actually in the process of creating a "sitting room" for myself in our one remaining bedroom as when we moved Mom into the house, she got the library/living room because it was both the biggest room in the house and on the first floor. So the room I put the most of myself into is gone and I need a replacement for my own peace of mind. Everywhere I look now it's pretty much her furniture and she's trying pretty hard to redecorate my house so it looks like her. So by god I'm going to get one room that is all me! A room you walk into and immediately think "I remember this". "This is what Janine "looks like" when she pours her heart into her house.... It may not make much sense but I worked hard on our home and my husband was on the road while I did most of it so having a small piece of all that back is really important to me.

I did a tropical island with a big skull cave. It was awesome!
I would kill for that talent!..... And if, after climbing into my "coffin", I could travel in my sleep, I would come to your house and suck that talent out of you like blood! You should be very afraid my friend!

I should stop now don't you think? This is probably enough trouble with my posts for one day!?

See, I would do rooms differently, to reflect the many personalities in my head. One would be super heroes, another old Hollywood, probably 1920-50. Lots of Bogart, Chaplin, film canisters, all of that. One would be Horror themed, mostly focusing on old Universal monsters, but some modern horror as well. Things of that nature. And the bedroom, wellllll.....have you ever seen Caligula?

In all honesty.... I started using "eccentric" because I was getting "odd" and "bizarre" and "wow, she's just weird" from pretty much everyone I knew so eccentric became a self-defense shield that none of the other stuff could penetrate.....

I am: "Eccentric Woman" !...... Take that! :emoji_muscle: :emoji_nerd: :emoji_fearful: :emoji_shrug:

:emoji_kiss::emoji_dancer: And now "eccentric" dancing bunnies for all of us "unusual" individuals! :emoji_dancers::emoji_dancers::emoji_dancers::emoji_dancers::emoji_dancers::emoji_dancers::emoji_dancers::emoji_dancers::emoji_dancers::emoji_dancers::emoji_dancers::emoji_dancers::emoji_dancers:

I've seen CALIGULA...

Are you saying that you'd have decapitated heads all over the room?

Perhaps a horse's head on the pillow, just to add a little variety...

Yeah, done that too. But I decided that even given chainsaw's "handle" I just couldn't see him using it as a decorating tool so I thought it'd be best to just give that one a pass....

By all means, decorate in your own style! But I think one should pause before considering actual blood as an acceptable paint color!
And then there's the body parts.... which is just a bit gauche and over-the-top don't you think? Plus, once never wants to copy the style of another in it's entirety.... I mean really!!

:emoji_kiss::emoji_dancer:....... and where are the emojis for dismembered body parts anyway?!!! :emoji_blush:

Should I ever come into a serious sum of money, I shall invest in an industrial size shed and deck out its interior in the style of a multi-level TARDIS - from Classic Who. It shall have a primary and secondary console room at the front and rear - based upon the console rooms first seen in AN UNEARTHLY CHILD and THE MASQUE OF MANDRAGORA - complete with appropriate furniture. All controls shall be in working order and have logical, realistic and useful functions. Bedrooms and rest areas within the TARDIS shall be accurately based upon their fictional counterparts from stories such as THE EDGEOF DESTRUCTION and ARC OF INFINITY. Kitchen, laundry and bathroom facilities shall, as closely as possible, resemble what their TARDIS equivalents would be like and their would even be a food machine to dispense healthy, pre-packaged food, medicines and water. I might even include a small swimming pool in the lowest level, a large library and a small art gallery in the middle level and on the very top level there would be an extensive arboretum - THE INVASION OF TIME. The construction would have no windows, but the arboretum would come complete with transparent roof panels that could be removed if necessary. The entire exterior of the construction would be in police box blue and have a set of police box doors front and rear...
and where are the emojis for dismembered body parts anyway?!!!
Actually, most of them are... Disembodied heads, disembodied hands... This place is a regular abattoir! :emoji_raised_back_of_hand::emoji_raised_hand::emoji_ok_hand::emoji_middle_finger::emoji_metal::emoji_astonished::emoji_cold_sweat::emoji_confounded::emoji_cry::emoji_scream:
