    Fun One Hit Wonders

Yes, while that was a big hit in the '80s, Nena has had a number of hit records in Europe starting in the '00s. I do own a few of her CDs, even though I do not speak German.

    Review Waterworld (1995)

Despite a thread that already exists about the 1995 DVD, I thought this new 2019 Blu-ray of Waterworld deserved its own. This is a 3 disc Blu-ray release that includes the never-before-seen "Ulysses" cut. I will be buying. https://www.avforums.com/review/waterworld-blu-ray-review.15648

    Review Deadwood (2004)

After hearing about Deadwood on and off for a few years, I finally watched the series back in April . . . and just last night I finished watching it a second time. Wonderful series, and I am very glad to hear that a movie is highly likely.

Fun The Last Movie That You Watched?

Lucy 1.5/5 If it weren't for Scarlett's performance this would have been a total loss of an evening.

Fun The Last Movie That You Watched?

I enjoyed this quite a bit, even after multiple viewings (which is where a movie can start to slip for me). Indeed, the atmospherics are part of the charm for me. It is not by any means a perfect film, but definitely worthwhile. I'm with you on this one.

Review 3 Days of the Condor (1975)

This has always been a personal favorite of mine. Based on the James Grady novel, Six Days of the Condor, it is an intriguing mystery/thriller, which moves along fairly well. Sydney Pollack's direction is very good, and the actors all turn in credible performances, although I enjoy Robert...

    Review Casablanca (1942)

I first saw this when I was 17 or 18 years of age, and at the time, I remember that it was one of the best movies I'd ever seen. Up to that time, I hadn't really "rated" movies one way or the other. So fast foward 40+ years, and I have to say that Casablanca falls into the "sentimental...

    Review The Great Race (1965)

As nice as it is to look at Natalie Wood, it is Jack Lemmon and Peter Falk who carry this one. Love their antics.

    Fun One Hit Wonders

I'll start by saying that my formative years started with U.S. Beatlemania, circa 1964. When John was killed, I wept on and off for days. I mean, on an intellectual level, I was confounded by the tragedy, but I was surprised at the time by the depth of my emotional sadness. As to the song...

    Review Life of Brian (1979)

From now on, I want you all to call me Loretta. Followed by more hilarity, including: I'm not oppressing you, Stan, you haven't got a womb. Where's the fetus gonna gestate? You gonna keep it in a box?

    Review Life of Brian (1979)

I don't know why neither this (nor Holy Grail) is ever on any of the premium movie channels. It is a brilliant satire. I don't know what prompted it, but as I was standing at the sink washing dishes yesterday, the following scene featuring Michael Palin popped into my head, and I just started...

Review Arsenic and Old Lace (1944)

This too is my favorite Carey Grant comedy, perhaps my favorite performance of his. period. I certainly agree with your statement about Grant's performance. It drove the movie.
