Louis C.K.’s “Daddy” Premiere Suddenly Cancelled

louis-cks-daddy-premiere-suddenly-cancelled-696x464.jpg

The New York premiere of Louis C.K.’s new film “I Love You, Daddy” has been canceled mere hours before it was set to take place at the Paris Theatre with event reps citing “unexpected circumstances”.

THR says that a New York Times story on the comedian is about to break and the premiere was canceled in case it’s damaging.

The film tells the story of a successful TV writer-producer that attempts to stop his 17-year-old daughter’s (Chloe Grace Moretz) growing admiration and relationship with a 68-year-old filmmaker (John Malkovich). Pamela Aldon, Rose Byrne, Charlie Day, Edie Falco and Helen Hunt co-star.

It has generated controversy following its premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival in September over its content including use of language and several jokes about child rape.

The industry is on tenterhooks at the moment due to the ongoing sexual harrassment allegations and scandals that keep coming out. In the last 48 hours alone, actors like Jeffrey Tambor, Ed Westwick, Steven Seagal, Charlie Sheen and Jeremy Piven have had allegations hurled at them which have been met with adamant denials, though some are being put under investigation.

I agree the victim should have a right to privacy, so should the accused until an arrest is made. It's improper to publicly name someone as being under investigation for sexual assault before they are arrested. We can't pretend that every accusation is true and that every accused is guilty and deserves public shame. I once dated a girl who accused her supervisor of sexual harassment then told me in private it wasn't true and laughed about it. I went to her supervisor's boss and told her what I was told. The accused was demoted. It seemed unfair to me but that is how damaging an accusation can be, and that was 15 years ago. At the time I was told that it didn't matter if it was true, they had to take some action to avoid possible legal entanglements.

There is a danger at the present time that anyone with a grudge against a public figure who has known them in real life, even in passing, could destroy their careers and reputations. Simply through making a claim. I imagine that even the biggest stars, innocent or not, must be quietly worried that they might be be accused next.

Not a good time to be a celebrity, particularly in Hollywood.

Louis C.K. Hit By Sexual Misconduct Allegations

louis-c-k-hit-by-sexual-misconduct-allegations-696x464.jpg

Rumors have circulated for years, but now the New York Times has broken the story about comedian Louis C.K.’s sexual misconduct with five women going on the record and sharing their stories about their experiences. The pattern is familiar between the victims, all alleging that Louis C.K. either asked or proceeded to masturbate in front of them without their consent.

All of the victims were traumatized by the encounter and some reportedly even saw their careers suffer when they spoke out as his manager Dave Becky was said to be displeased that two of the women, comedy duo Dana Min Goodman and Julia Wolov, were telling people what had happened.

Becker denies any threats were made, but the duo say they knew: “immediately that we can never even submit our material” for projects he was involved with. He represented high profile names like Kevin Hart, Amy Poehler and Aziz Ansari amongst others which meant many gigs were off limits in their minds.

Those around Louis C.K. are starting to distance themselves, including Tig Notaro who said in a statement: “Sadly, I’ve come to learn that Louis C.K.’s victims are not only real, but many are actual friends of mine within the comedy community.”

The revelations in the story are likely a big reason for the cancellation of tonight’s premiere of the comedian’s new directorial effort which the reviewer for FastCompanysays: “plays like an excuse for everything that allows sexual predators to thrive: open secrets, toxic masculinity, and powerful people getting the benefit of the doubt.” The film’s distributor The Orchard are said to be careful considering their options regarding the film which was supposed to be released next week.

Louis C.K. has long refused to address the allegations that have followed him, and his publicist Lewis Kay releasing the following statement today: “Louis is not going to answer any questions.” Louis C.K. has seemingly admitted culpability, reportedly reaching out to apologize to some of his victims years later according to the story. There’s also further details on this report at Jezebel who tried to crack the story five years ago.

The revelations come as Variety reports former “Mad Men” writer Kater Gordon has accused series creator Matthew Weiner of making a sexually charged remark to her while she worked on the series and felt “threatened and devalued” after Weiner allegedly made the remark about seeing her naked – saying the incident shook her confidence in her writing ability. Weiner has denied the allegation.

Plummer Replacing Spacey In “Money” Reshoots

In unprecedented news, Sony Pictures and director Ridley Scott will cut Kevin Spacey entirely out of the upcoming J. Paul Getty drama “All the Money in the World”.

Christopher Plummer has been hired to replace Spacey in the role of J. Paul Getty and Plummer will film all of Spacey’s scenes in reshoots in the upcoming weeks. Spacey’s role, though integral, was supposedly only 8-10 days of filming according to Deadline.

Scott reportedly made the decision on his own and notified the studio this afternoon according to THR. Plummer was reportedly Scott’s original choice to play the part but the studio wanted a bigger name. The current version of the film hadn’t yet screened.

The film follows the kidnapping of sixteen-year-old John Paul Getty III (Charlie Plummer) and the desperate attempt by his devoted mother Gail (Michelle Williams) to convince his billionaire grandfather (Spacey) to pay the ransom.

When Getty Sr. refuses, Gail attempts to sway him as her son’s captors become increasingly volatile and brutal. With her son’s life in the balance, Gail and Getty’s advisor (Mark Wahlberg) become unlikely allies in the race against time that ultimately reveals the true and lasting value of love over money.

Despite the same last name, Christopher and Charlie Plummer aren’t related. The film is still expected to hit cinemas on December 22nd.

She told Vulture, that she decided to speak up after hearing Dreyfuss support his son, Harry, who claims that Kevin Spacey groped him when he was 18 years old. Teich said: “When I read about his support for his son, which I would never question, I remember thinking, ‘But wait a minute, this guy harassed me for months." Teich explained that they worked together on the October 1987 TV special “Funny, You Don’t Look 200: A Constitutional Vaudeville,” and Dreyfuss exposed himself to her. Dreyfuss has since denied the incident.

Richard Dreyfuss Responds To Allegations

richard-dreyfuss-responds-to-allegations-696x464.jpg

The latest sexual harassment and misconduct scandal story has arrived on Vulturewhich has published a feature about acting veteran Richard Dreyfuss and his relationship with Los Angeles writer Jessica Teich over several years.

Teich claims the harassment was constant over a 2-3 year period in the mid-1980s when she was in her mid-20s and worked as a researcher and junior writer on a TV special passion project of Dreyfuss’s. He was twelve years older and married with a child along with being her boss, famous, rich, and at the time the youngest Best Actor Oscar winner.

The pair were working together developing the script and then, one day, Dreyfuss allegedly asked her to meet him in his trailer on the Los Angeles studio lot of a movie he was starring in at the time. She walked in, only to see him with an apparent exposed erection.

Dreyfuss reportedly never asked for her for oral sex or a handjob but she remembers the situation being unambiguous: “I remember my face being brought close to his penis. I can’t remember how my face got close to his penis, but I do remember that the idea was that I was going to give him a blow job. I didn’t, and I left.”

Teich says: “I kept moving because it was part of my job, and I knew he was, at the time, a very important guy, and certainly important to me. I trusted him. That’s what’s always so weird. I liked him. That’s part of why it’s so painful, because of the level of innocence one brings to these things. I felt responsible, that I must have indicated in some way that I was available for this.”

Teich says that, at the time, she told no one about the exposure incident, or what she claims were years of continual, overt, lewd comments and invitations from Dreyfuss and she couldn’t do her job without him unambiguously coming on to her: “He has that way of sidling up to you and saying things like, ‘I want to f–k you’. That was said all the time. He would constantly steer conversations to this yucky, insinuating thing and I would sort of try to pull us back to a place where we could actually get some work done.”

Teich added that she believes Dreyfuss would be very surprised if he heard that I felt completely coerced and disenfranchised: “I think he’d be like, ‘Oh no, I thought you really liked me.’ I don’t think he had any idea.” The now 70 year old Dreyfuss then responded to her claims with a long written piece saying:

“At the height of my fame in the late 1970s I became an asshole – the kind of performative masculine man my father had modeled for me to be. I lived by the motto, ‘If you don’t flirt, you die.’ And flirt I did. I flirted with all women, be they actresses, producers, or 80-year-old grandmothers. I even flirted with those who were out of bounds, like the wives of some of my best friends, which especially revolts me.

I disrespected myself, and I disrespected them, and ignored my own ethics, which I regret more deeply than I can express. During those years I was swept up in a world of celebrity and drugs – which are not excuses, just truths. Since then I have had to redefine what it means to be a man, and an ethical man. I think every man on Earth has or will have to grapple with this question. But I am not an assaulter.

I emphatically deny ever “exposing” myself to Jessica Teich, whom I have considered a friend for 30 years. I did flirt with her, and I remember trying to kiss Jessica as part of what I thought was a consensual seduction ritual that went on and on for many years. I am horrified and bewildered to discover that it wasn’t consensual. I didn’t get it. It makes me reassess every relationship I have ever thought was playful and mutual.”

The full piece, including reaction from Teich to Dreyfuss’ statement, is up at Vulture.

Seagal, Takei Hit By Misconduct Allegations

seagal-takei-hit-by-misconduct-allegations-696x464.jpg

Another day, and another round of sexual harassment and misconduct allegations have emerged with a bunch of new names now being implicated.

“Star Trek” icon George Takei has responded to an accusation of sexual assault made against him by former model and actor Scott R. Brunton who alleged an incident at Takei’s home in 1981 when the actor passed out and awoke to find Takei “groping at my crotch and trying to get my underwear off”. Takei is an author, producer and social activist and a notable ambassador for the LGBTQ community and writes on Twitterthat the events “simply did not occur” and adds:

“I am as shocked and bewildered at these claims as you must feel reading them. The events he describes back in the 1980s simply did not occur, and I do not know why he has claimed them now. I have wracked my brain to ask if I remember Mr. Brunton, and I cannot say I do. I do take these claims very seriously, and I wanted to provide my response thoughtfully and not out of the moment.

Right now it is a he said/he said situation, over alleged events nearly 40 years ago. But those that know me understand that non-consensual acts are so antithetical to my values and my practices, the very idea that someone would accuse me of this is quite personally painful. Brad, who is 100 percent beside me on this, as my life partner of more than 30 years and now my husband, stands fully by my side. I cannot tell you how vital it has been to have his unwavering support and love in these difficult times.”

Meanwhile action icon Steven Seagal, who has already been under fire in recent weeks for allegations of inappropriate behavior, has denied he sexually harassed a young actress and now Hollywood executive on the set of his 1991 movie “Out for Justice” according to a new story in The New York Post.

The woman, who asked not to be named for fear of repercussions, alleges that Seagal insisted that all the new actresses gather for him to ‘check us all out’. Then she was led to his personal trailer by a wardrobe assistant to change into a corset. Seagal reportedly barged in saying: “I need to see what you look like”. When she screamed for the wardrobe person, he smirked and said: “It’s OK, I like nice girls, too”.

The next night Seagal allegedly called her at home and asked her to come to his hotel room to listen to music. She said she didn’t feel comfortable doing that and alleges Seagal responded with: “You are not comfortable about coming over and sitting on my face for an hour?”. The ex-actress says: “I told him, ‘You’re married,’ and he just said, ‘Ah, you are no fun.’ I worked for two weeks, then they let me go. If I’d gone to the hotel room and slept with him I would have had a much better role.”

The unnamed woman says she recounted the ordeal to a fellow actress on the movie who said to her: “He didn’t give you a pager? He has given them to a few actresses, and when he pages, you have to go immediately to his hotel room, even if it is 3am.” Seagal was married at the time to Kelly LeBrock and the incident reportedly occurred just after she had given birth to their second child.

The report follows on from actresses Jenny McCarthy, Portia de Rossi and Julianna Margulies who have also accused Seagal of inappropriate behaviour in recent weeks. Seagal’s lawyer, Marty Singer denies the allegations to the paper saying: “This is totally false … It is interesting this person doesn’t give her name to give her claims legitimacy.”

Then The Sydney Morning Herald reports that “Pitch Perfect” actress Rebel Wilson has accused an unnamed ‘male star’, who she said was in a “position of power”, of repeatedly asking her to go in a room with him and for her to penetrate his rectum with her finger while his friends filmed the incident on their phones and laughed. She says she: “repeatedly said no and eventually got out of the room.”

She also claimed she had a separate “hotel room encounter” with a “top director”, but said nothing physical happened after his wife called and she heard her shouting at him for sleeping with actresses.

“Flash” Showrunner Suspended Over Allegations

flash-showrunner-suspended-over-allegations-696x464.jpg

Warner Bros. TV Group has launched an investigation into allegations of inappropriate behavior on the part of Andrew Kreisberg, a key producer on The CW’s DC shows. Kreisberg is the showrunner on “The Flash,” co-showrunner of “Supergirl,” and an executive producer on both “Arrow” and “DC’s Legends of Tomorrow”.

Kreisberg has been suspended by the studio and has engaged in a pattern of alleged and endemic sexual harassment and inappropriate physical contact (kissing without permission, asking for massages, sexualised comments about women’s appearances) over a period of years according to fifteen women and four men who have worked with him.

None of them want to be named and many are or were employed in a range of positions on those shows and fear retaliation from either Warner Brothers or companies and individuals associated with those programs. They added that they did not contact human resources because according to one woman “it seems like nothing’s been enforced” and they would pay a price for doing so due to how important his position was at the company.

Human resources has since interviewed staff and reportedly many women said they found the work environment created by Kreisberg to be so hostile and ‘toxic’ that they leave a room when he enters it.

Kreisberg strongly denies the allegations in this story and tells Variety: “I have made comments on women’s appearances and clothes in my capacity as an executive producer, but they were not sexualized. Like many people, I have given someone a non-sexual hug or kiss on the cheek… I have proudly mentored both male and female colleagues for many years. But never in what I believe to be an unwanted way and certainly never in a sexual way.”

Gadot Wants Ratner Out Of “Wonder Woman 2”?

gadot-wants-ratner-out-of-wonder-woman-2-696x464.jpg

Warner Bros. Pictures has denied a report in Page Six that indicates that actress Gal Gadot is refusing to sign on for the “Wonder Woman” sequel unless the first film’s producer Brett Ratner is completely removed from the franchise.

Ratner’s production company, RatPac-Dune Entertainment, helped produce the first film as part of its co-financing deal with Warner Bros. Pictures with Ratner’s company will take a healthy share of the profits. An insider tells the trade:

“Brett made a lot of money from the success of ‘Wonder Woman,’ thanks to his company having helped finance the first movie. Now Gadot is saying she won’t sign for the sequel unless Warner Bros. buys Brett out [of his financing deal] and gets rid of him… she’s tough and stands by her principles. She also knows the best way to hit people like Brett Ratner is in the wallet. She also knows that Warner Bros. has to side with her on this issue as it develops. They can’t have a movie rooted in women’s empowerment being part-financed by a man accused of sexual misconduct against women.”

Gadot last month backed out of a dinner honoring Ratner where she was due to present him with an award, that backing out was thought to be the first indicator of the scandal that subsequently broke which saw Ratner hit with multiple sexual-harassment allegations leveled by actresses like Olivia Munn and Natasha Henstridge.

Ratner has vehemently denied the allegations through his attorney Marty Singer. Reps for Gadot and Ratner did not comment, while the Warners rep simply said: “False.” Indeed it has been reported several times that Gadot was already signed for the sequel months ago, while Warners indicated earlier this month they were severing all ties with RatPac Entertainment.

Sizemore Allegedly Molested An 11yo Girl

sizemore-allegedly-molested-an-11yo-girl-696x464.jpg

The latest in the wave of Hollywood sexual misconduct allegations has revealed that actor Tom Sizemore was removed from the set of 2003’s “Born Killers” for allegedly sexually violating an 11-year old girl according to THR.

The young actress, who was to play the actor’s daughter in a flashback scene, reportedly told her parents that Sizemore had touched her genitals. In the scene she was supposed to sit on the actor’s lap, but then Sizemore began to rub her vagina and may have gone further and according to production manager Cassidy Lunnen, the actress was young and not sure if the incident happened intentionally or not.

Robyn Adamson, who portrayed the wife in the movie, stood off camera and said the girl had an uncomfortable look on her face: “At one point her eyes got just huge, like she could’ve vomited. I was watching her. She soon reintegrated and kept going, although she had trouble taking direction. Later, when I was told about what happened, I knew exactly what it was.”

No charges were filed at the time and Sizemore returned to the production after it moved from Utah to California. The now 26-year old former actress is seeking to press charges against Sizemore, as well as her parents, and has requested to stay anonymous.

The trade spoke with a dozen members of the cast and crew who can confirm that the actor was removed from the set and that everybody on the project new about the allegations – leading to a less than stellar work environment. Sizemore has been known to have problems with substances and domestic abuse, so many believed the girl’s story right away.

Sizemore is said to have denied the young actress’ claim as soon as he was confronted, but his management firm Untitled and talent agency CAA both quietly dropped him shortly afterward. His current reps said simply “no comment” to today’s report.
