Fun FILM GENERAL: Anything To Do With Films

To some extent, but I also know that the reason he changed his last name to Cage was so that producers wouldn't immediately cast him on his uncle's name. He wanted to make it on his own merit. Which is commendable in an industry where you can have a career immediately just because you're from a...

    Review Torchwood (2006)

There are some really great moments in the first two seasons, so I wouldn't write them off as awful, but there are some truly cringe-worthy times. My favorite character is still Owen. Season three is really great. I like that Capaldi fellow. I hope he goes on to do something really good. And...

    Review The Matt Smith Doctor

Another reason I hate living in America. I don't always get to see movies or TV programs right away, and I constantly run into people who want to sit and spoil everything. This one kid I work with thinks nothing of letting all sorts of details slip, and legitimately doesn't understand why others...

    Review Doctor Who Monsters

Having not read the novelization, I enjoyed the episode. Troughton was such a great incarnation of The Doctor, and his relationship with Jamie is one of the best Doctor/companion relationships ever. I also like the exchange between The Doctor and Victoria about him remembering his family. The...

    Review Magazines

I read Starlog growing up, and Doctor Who Magazine when I could get it. like @High Plains Drifter , I also read Metal Edge and Hit Parader, as well as Circus, until it went more mainstream and stopped covering metal bands. Guitar, Guitar Player, and Guitar School were big ones when I was...

    Review Spock's Brain (1968)

    I love that demotivational poster.

Review Let That Be Your Last Battlefield (1969)

A little heavy handed on the lessons on racism and the Vietnam war, but a very good episode. While other episodes played it more subtly, this one flat out says "Hey, racism is stupid!", and unfortunately, it's a lesson not many are willing to listen to, even today in the 21st century. Frank...

Review The City on the Edge of Forever (1966)

I still love this episode, even if Harlan Ellison disowned it (I have yet to read his original script/story, but eventually will). It's interesting reading the history behind this episode, and the resulting feud between Ellison and Roddenberry. Ellison is a brash ass, and thinks extremely highly...

    Review The Cage (1966)

It really is a great story, and would have made for a very different program. Unfortunately, that show most likely wouldn't have made it on TV at that time, so it's probably for the best that it didn't make it to series. For once, the studio heads were right, if for the wrong reasons. The show...

    Review The McGann Doctor

It was a delight seeing McGann on screen in the role again! I only wish it had been more than a mini-episode. He brings a real presence to the role, and is at once charming, then pained when he's trying to convince the woman to come into the TARDIS with him. And his attitude about having only...

Fun Famous People You Have Met

I've never really met any celebrities. But at an American Head Charge show, Chris Emery (the drummer) came to the front of the stage of the club we were at and shook everyone's hand that came up and apologized about how the show went and was just the coolest guy. He was so humble, and was...

Fun Star Trek: The Original Series

Scotty was the finest chief engineer of them all. Not that I didn't like Trip or Geordie, they were both great. But Scotty had a swagger to him. And his appearance in the TNG episode "Relics" was terrific. And he was a bad ass. Dude was with the troops that stormed Normandy on D-Day, and was...

Fun Star Trek: The Animated Series

If they did new stories, then I would go the CGI route. But the animation of the original program fits. Not everything should be made shiny and new just because we can do so.

    Fun Star Trek: Discovery (2017)

Yes. Very much yes. So much yes. That was explained in ENTERPRISE. There was a Klingon doctor experimenting with Augment DNA. Not a great story arc, but I accepted the explanation for why the Klingons from TOS had smooth foreheads.

    Review Cause and Effect (1992)

I honestly don't remember this episode. I guess I'll watch it this weekend and get back to everyone.

Review Star Trek Into Darkness (2013)

I still found this movie enjoyable, but that's really only because I am a shameless whore for anything involving Cumberbatch. The man has talent dripping from everywhere. I think the movie could have been saved with one simple rewrite. Make him anyone other than Khan.If he has just been another...

Fun Star Trek: Deep Space Nine

For as little as I liked DS9, I liked Sisko. I would have liked to have seen him as a starship captain, but he still got some kick ass moments.

    Fun Star Trek: Enterprise

I actually liked it. I think because it was a prequel I was okay with the break from an instrumental opening and using a pop song. It fit the tone of the show.

    Review Pacific Rim (2013)

There's also a lot of anime references, mostly the Jagers being a live action version of the mechas that were popular for a while in the genre. I especially was reminded of NEON GENESIS EVANGELION. It really is a fun film to watch. Me too.
