Willis, Fan Bingbing Film Scraps Release
The planned Chinese domestic theatrical release of big-budget war movie “Unbreakable Spirit” has been scrapped.
Previously titled “The Bombing,” the film was already infamous for being at the center of the tax avoidance allegations involving actress Fan Bingbing. That news story saw the film’s original release delayed from August to late October.
The cancellation this week, however, ties to new allegations of money laundering with the same TV host who sparked the Fan scandal reportedly saying the film’s budget had been artificially inflated with large sums of Shanghai pension fund money allegedly ‘washed’ through the production.
Xiao Feng helms the film which also stars Bruce Willis, Liu Ye, and Nicholas Tse.
