“Split” actress Anya Taylor-Joy has reportedly scored the lead role in a new adaptation of Jane Austen’s 1815 novel “Emma” at Working Title. Autumn de Wilde will make her feature directorial debut from a script by author Eleanor Catton. The comedy of manners focuses on Emma Woodhouse, who can’t help herself from constantly meddling in the love affairs of others.

Nighy, Turner Join New “Emma” Adaptation
Bill Nighy and Callum Turner will join Anya Taylor-Joy in a new film adaptation of Jane Austen’s “Emma” at Focus Features and Universal Pictures International.
Autumn de Wilde helms the new take on the comedy of manners about a self-proclaimed matchmaker in a small village. Eleanor Catton penned the screenplay.
Miranda Hart, Mia Goth, Josh O’Connor, Rupert Graves, Gemma Whelan, Amber Anderson and Tanya Reynolds also star. Tim Bevan, Eric Fellner, Graham Broadbent and Pete Czernin are producing and filming begins this week in England.
