Following the domestic trailer release the other week, Lionsgate and StudioCanal have now released a new trailer for the Liam Neeson-led action thriller “The Commuter”.

The project marks his fourth time working with Jaume Collet-Serra (“The Shallows”), and the film also stars “The Conjuring” duo of Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson along with Sam Neill, Jonathan Banks and Elizabeth McGovern.

Neeson plays an insurance salesman on his daily commute home, which quickly becomes anything but routine as he is forced to uncover the identity of a hidden passenger on his train before the last stop – the lives of everyone onboard are at risk.

“The Commuter” opens in cinemas on January 12th.

To be honest, I think it looks watchable enough. But Liam does seem to make nothing but thrillers nowadays? Oh well.

The Commuter
Director: Jaume Collett-Serra (“Non-Stop,” “House of Wax”)
Cast: Liam Neeson, Vera Farmiga, Patrick Wilson, Jonathan Banks, Sam Neill
Details: Neeson and Collett-Serra have made a name for themselves as a pairing that works well together on decent if unremarkable thrillers. “The Commuter” marks their fourth collaboration together after “Unknown,” “Non-Stop” and “Run All Night” and follows on from Collett-Serra’s well received and successful shark tale “The Shallows”. It also brings back Vera Farmiga with whom the director worked on the utterly bats–t insane “Orphan”.

Neeson plays an insurance salesman on his daily commute home who is contacted by a mysterious stranger who forces him to uncover the identity of a hidden passenger on his train before the last stop – otherwise, everyone on board could be killed. Each of Collett-Serra and Neeson’s pairings so far has been better than the last, let’s hope the trend continues.
