“The Curse of La Llorona”
Though not officially a “Conjuring” spin-off film, the James Wan-produced “The Curse of La Llorona” certainly contains many of the hallmarks of one with Michael Chaves making his feature directorial debut on this ahead of plans to have him helm and Wan produce an official third “Conjuring” film.
Today the first trailer has arrived for the film based on real-life Mexican folklore of a mother who drowned her two young sons in a fit of rage over her adulterous husband and is cursed to roam the Earth looking for other children to snatch away and call her own.
This sets the action in 1970s Los Angeles where a social worker and her own small kids are soon drawn into a frightening supernatural realm. Their only hope to survive La Llorona’s deadly wrath may be a disillusioned priest and the mysticism he practices to keep evil at bay.
Linda Cardellini, Raymond Cruz, Patricia Velasquez, Marisol Ramirez, Sean Patrick Thomas, Jaynee-Lynne Kinchen, and Roman Christou star in the film which opens April 19th 2019.
