Set in 1825, Clare, a young Irish convict woman, chases a British officer through the rugged Tasmanian wilderness, bent on revenge for a terrible act of violence he committed against her family. On the way she enlists the services of an Aboriginal tracker named Billy, who is also marked by trauma from his own violence-filled past.

The Nightingale
IFC Films has scored the U.S. rights to the period thriller “The Nightingale” from acclaimed Australian writer/director Jennifer Kent (“The Babadook”). The film has its U.S. domestic debut at the Sundance Film Festival.

Set in 1825, this follows 21-year-old Irish convict Clare (Aisling Franciosi) who enlists the help of an Aboriginal tracker (Baykali Ganambarr) through the Tasmanian wilderness to get revenge on the abusive commandant (Sam Claflin) who led a gang rape of her and killed her family.
