The film is so brilliant through here! I feel ansty in my pantsy when they do that reveal. And after Spock gets aboard ship, it turns into an hour and a half of talking. I like my Trek to be cerebral, philosophical, and even talky, but there has to be some sort of action going on.

Of course, we know what action can bring...
I suppose the search for the centre of V'ger could have been... "condensed" a little. Imagine if ninety minutes had been reduced to sixty - and then the final thirty minutes was dedicated to a desperate duel between the Enterprise and those three Klingon spaceships and the rescue of the crew of that Federation monitoring station - because V'ger had restored them as a sign of good faith to its creators...

Then we really could have seen what the newly refitted Enterprise could do...
