Hello. Just to let you guys know that I'll open the voting thread on Sunday listing all the nominations. There are a few procedures that I want to suggest that take into account all different preferences, but voting itself will be very flexible. Don't worry, things will be very clear.

What's wrong with one poster, one vote? Simply pick one from the choice provided. It's clear, fair and simple.

If there happens to be a tie, have a run-off.

That way, there won't be any misunderstandings or mistakes. The more unnecessarily complex you make the process, the more chance of some sort of foul up. Best to avoid anything that could lead to disagreement or dissent.

Sure, that was what I was planning. One poster, one vote. What makes you think there's something wrong with that? And.... Ah, but there's more! As I said, I'll explain that on Sunday, so Sunday it will be.

It seems you're ready to antagonize whatever I'm going to present even before I present it, so you made this preemptive criticism. It seems you've already decided *I* am making this *unnecessarily complex,* emphasis to the word "unnecessarily."

Would you like to organize this yourself instead?

Best to avoid anything that could lead to disagreement or dissent.
Considering that you're having problems with the things even before I present anything concrete, I don't see how we can avoid disagreement and dissent.

Just making sure that we're all on the same page.

And I await Sunday with baited breath...

Actually, I wasn't speaking in specific terms, but general ones. It wasn't an accusation, just an observation.

When I used the word "you", I meant it in terms of "one", not actually you.

So the following passage could have read...
The more unnecessarily complex one makes the process, the more chance of some sort of foul up.
So there's no need to feel agitated about it. I can assure you it's quite unnecessary.
Would you like to organize this yourself instead?
No, please feel free to continue.

Of course, if at any stage you are unable to continue, just let the rest of us know and I'm sure someone will leap into the breach and keep things going until you're able to continue.
Considering that you're having problems with the things even before I present anything concrete, I don't see how we can avoid disagreement and dissent.
Once again, it wasn't an accusation, just an observation.

I'm sorry, it seems I overreacted. The situation is a little odd. We've just finished a show, like so many other shows we've done over the years, and from my perspective, you guys showed up to our thing, not the other way around. And I'm just following with the same steps we've always made, something that was perfected after many attempts, through trial and error. Which doesn't mean you guys can't change everything to your liking, but there'll be a chance for that soon.

Anyway, what I'd like to do is the following: I'll show you guys how we've been doing things, and we can try the system just so you see how it works, and I'll explain all the rationale. Then, let the majority decide how and what they'll change. But at least give me a chance to present and demonstrate how we've been working so far. Does that sound fair to you?

Time to vote!

Here are the nominees in alphabetical order:

3%
Alien Nation
Awake
Black Mirror
Blake's 7
Catweazle
Dead Like Me
Earth: Final Conflict (Season 1)
Hooten and the Lady
I, Claudius
Land of the Giants
Life On Mars
Mission: Impossible
Space: 1999
Star Cops
Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles
The Omega Factor
The Time Tunnel
Wayward Pines (Season 1)
Welcome to Paradox

Here's where the real fun begins. We always have a great time rooting and voting for our respective candidates as they struggle to make to the top.

I'm going to explain how we've been doing in the "Sages of the Single Season." First you vote for the show you think we should watch, that's for sure. Next, choose the next four shows you're interested in. In order words, choose five shows in order of preference. The first on the list gets 5 points, while the last gets 1. The show with the most points wins. If there's a tie, the show with the most votes in general wins, though that has been a bone of contention at times.

Now some of you must be wondering, "Why do I have to do this? I already know what I want to watch. We all know we want to watch Bl... I mean, Show X." Of course, if everybody has already made up their minds about Show X, just pick Show X and start watching it. However, other people may think otherwise, and this system was developed for a diverse group in terms of ideas and preferences.

Anyway, choosing 5 shows will NOT alter the winner. The winner is the winner. If several people choose Show X as the winner, the points system won't change that. In fact, it'll actually help Show X, because someone might vote for it on second or third places, for instance, so Show X gets more points than it would win otherwise.

This is our system and our legacy. In case you don't like it, feel free to change it next time a show is voted. Right now, however, it would be interesting to see the system working.

Again, vote for your number one show as you would anyway. Then pick four more. This will give you a chance to evaluate shows you wouldn't otherwise even consider. And the results will help us assess the impact of the current nominees, not just the winner, in our little community, The results will inform us as to which shows appeal to which members, and provide us with a greater variety of options.

Please write the 5 votes in green so I can spot them easily.

One more thing. I was thinking about making a poll, but in this case we'd need five polls, one for each vote position, so I thought just listing them in a comment would be better.

Another thing. You have until next Sunday evening to cast your votes. Take your time and think carefully. In order not to give those who vote last the advantage of voting knowing what the others have voted, you are free to change your vote any time by Sunday evening. And if we all agree we all have voted and our votes are final, we can count them and declare the winner sooner than Sunday.

Have a great time!

I just thought of something. Are we doing this wrong? If we want Blake’s 7, for instance, should it be #5?

Good question.

I'm sure that position 01 receives 5 points and position 05 receives 1 point, but it's always best to play it safe and check.

What do you say, @Mad-Pac?

Here's what I said earlier:
