Fun The 14th Doctor!

Who could the 14th Doctor possibly be once Jodie (who I freely admit has yet to see her first season broadcast!) relinquishes the role?
Technically Jodie is the 15th Doctor, given we've now officially got the War Doctor and two incarnations of David Tennant's Doctor, making Matt Smith the 13th and Peter Capaldi the 14th.

I'll happily admit to having no preference for the role. Male/Female/Young/Old - as long as it's a good actor with good scripts I'm happy.

Technically, with the War Doctor, two David Tennants and possibly two Peter Capaldis - remember the regeneration process he initiated to freak out Bill? - the TV series could now be up to the 16th Doctor.

Well there are also potentially another 8 previous Doctors from The Brain of Morbius (although later canon has tried to deny these) so maybe we're actually up to the 24th Doctor?

No, they were incarnations from Morbius - after all, he lost.

In MAWDRYN UNDEAD the Doctor indicated he was the fifth incarnation.

It's only what appears on the TV screen that counts.

At least until someone comes along later and contradicts it. The original intention of the director of Morbius was that they were prior incarnations of The Doctor. It's only when later writers and production teams settled on a limit of 12 regenerations that they decided not to waste any incarnations on offscreen personas.

Yeah, I know what the intentions of the production team was, but thankfully it only counts if it appears on the TV screen.

At least JNT got it right - and he got it onto the TV screen.

Something that the "show-runners" of New Who have no clue about.

The one and only Alan Cumming is set to guest star as 17th century ruler King James I on the upcoming new season of The BBC’s “Doctor Who” which stars Jodie Whittaker as the Thirteenth Doctor.

Cumming previously said last year that he’s been approached twice about potentially taking on the role of The Doctor, but was never formally offered the part. The show has, on several occasions, cast companions and Doctors who have guest starred in other roles on the show so his casting here doesn’t rule out the possibility of his eventually playing the part.

I can't see this happening. I think the window of opportunity will pass - and I also think that Cumming is too big a name now to step into the role in a committed way.

Yeah, if he were to do it, it would only for a short, predetermined, time. I can see him committing to one season of a show but not much more.

Casting Russell T Davies' future Doctors

The Target Novelisations of Doctor Who stories are renowned for expanding on their source material and Russel T Davies' own adaptation of Rose is no exception. One of the things he added? some hints at some future incarnations of the Doctor. So I thought... hey, lets cast those guys!

I think that we will be looking at our first black or Asian male Doctor.

It seems a logical next step as - in the current climate - I think an immediate return to a white male Doctor would be seen as a retrograde step. And since the casting of a female Doctor was so divisive I cannot see it being a black woman.... just yet.

But yes, i think the next Doctor can be narrowed down to beng a black (possibly Asian) male

I had never heard of Richard Ayoade until you mentioned him in a previous post some time back CSM, and yes, I can certainly see what you mean about a Doctorish quality to the man.

Rumours swirling, naming both a new producer - and Doctor......

Producer.....

John Dorney

Doctor 14.....

Eddie Redmayne

Am placing little to no credence on these rumours - as I just stumbled on them not five minutes ago. Will investigate further to either demolish or bolster this story! :emoji_alien:

A little OT but I hate how NuWho casually messes with the timeline. I like John Hurt but I really with Chris Eccleston had played the role. Either he unequivocally rejected the part outright or Moffat strung him along because he was so disorganized, and Eccleston got tired of waiting. I’m not sure which one it was. The fake out with the 10th and 12th (14th?) Doctor annoyed me. And Jodie’s throwaway line implying she was a woman before didn’t sit well with me. WIlliam Hartness WAS the First Doctor, that’s that.

Not sure who the first one is but there's no chance of the second. His name has been linked to the show since Matt Smith left but he's tied up with a major movie franchise that still has 3 movies left to go. So not enough time for him to do a series for at least 5 or 6 years now and by that stage he'll probably be too big a name to step back to a TV role. Plus I doubt they'll be looking to recast for at least another couple of years.

Well we've had a woman, so we mustn't leave out any part of our community, all must get a representation , so the next Doctor....... Warwick Davis !
I'd so totally watch that :emoji_alien:

Found on PLANET MONDAS forum.....

Some rumour circulating around GB that the regeneration is still on for Christmas 2020, and that there will also still be a new year special for a new Doctor. Series 12 is said to be eight episodes, and the BBC are thinking of dumping them on I-Player first.
