    Review Forrest Gump (1994)

Winston Groom, the author of the book, didn't like the movie. In fact, the first line of the book is "Being an idiot is no box of chocolates," not "Life is like a box of chocolates." In the sequel, Gump and Co., Gump says "Don't never let nobody make a movie of your life's story."

Mattel (the makers of Barbie) also released a collectible Doctor Who doll. I was never one for dolls, myself.

    Review The Krotons (1968)

Zoe was a great companion. I’m lucky enough never to have read a Target novelization, so there were no expectations to ruin with their low budget.

    News Tom and Jerry (2021)

Oh boy. Although this has the potential to ruin my childhood (AGAIN), they could possibly pull it off painlessly. I’ve heard the Bullwinkle movie isn’t bad, and the new Peanuts movie was OK too.

    Review Classic Who Companions!

If she’d watched Doctor Who from 2005 on, she would have already known it wasn’t her Doctor Who. It’s amusing to see that Frazer Hines was worried that DW would become too PC, and then thought it wasn’t - because a lot of fans thinik it’s too SJW-oriented now.

    Review Spearhead from Space (1970)

I love this serial. It looks so good because it's on film instead of video and we get strong characterizations right out of the gate (although they softened Liz considerably by the second serial). And I love Jon Pertwee.

Well now, I ran it through Google Translate. It’s not letting me copy and paste on my iPad so I took screenshots of the three reviews. Here they are:

    Fun Dumb Beliefs?

It's dumb, outdated, and silly, AND you're letting your rational thinking get in the way. The Coptic Orthodox church fasts for 50 days (to prove they're better than Jesus) and the fasting is eating vegan. I have a number of relatives that do it. Two of my aunts are fasting almost every time we...

Review Der Favorit der Königin (1922)

https://mubi.com/films/the-queen-s-favourite From the World Socialist Website: This year’s retrospective included the largely unknown movie The Queen’s Favourite (Der Favorit der Königin, 1922), directed by Franz Seitz, a film in the tradition of the Enlightenment dealing with the suppression...

True, I wouldn’t have known who Don Shirley was if it wasn’t for the publicity from this film.

    Poll Han/Greedo: Who Shot First?

Of course Han shot first! The Ewoks were cute and annoying. I heard it was originally supposed to be the Wookie planet but I guess that didn’t pan out. If you watched 1 - 9 in chronological order, you’d probably wonder why the past looks more high-tech than the future. And you’d probably come...

Review Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens

I’ve heard that Harrison Ford never liked the character of Han Solo. He didn’t think he was likable enough. In fact he wanted to be killed off in The Empire Strikes Back but back then they were smart and didn’t do that. I guess he insisted on that pointless implausible death to be rid of the...

    Fun The Oscars

Has anyone seen “The Green Book”? Lots of people are unhappy it won Best Picture. They say Don Shirley’s family doesn’t like it at all and it mischaracterizes him.
