The ironic thing is we willingly feed Big Brother.

It will always be a classic.

Most books set in the future often become redundant once time catches up with the period it's set but 1984 has become synonymous with a totalitarian view of the future. The date itself is pretty meaningless.

He was pretty spot on with a lot of his predictions.

I voted no.

It's not that I think it can't come true, or won't come true, but I simply don't think it has come true -yet. Certainly the technology exists and - in some quarters - the desire to make it come true exists.

I think it's only a matter of time.

I was going to say that we will know if they ban the book. But then it occurred to me that they don't need to ban the book. They just have to remove people's ability to read it. as Orwell predicted. The destruction of words.
