A Third “Bad Boys” Isn’t Going To Happen?
After first confirming that pre-production was underway three years ago, actor Martin Lawrence has now revealed that he thinks a third entry in the “Bad Boys” franchise is not going to happen.
The film, titled “Bad Boys for Life,” was set to have Lawrence and Will Smith reprise their iconic roles of Detectives Marcus Burnett and Mike Lowery in a Joe Carnahan-scripted sequel.
Two years ago Sony was bullish on the possibility, scheduling an early 2017 release and even slating a July 2019 release date for a fourth film. However things kept being delayed, the film’s director exited and then the project was officially removed from Sony’s release slate of forthcoming feature length productions.
Speaking with
EW, Lawrence has now effectively said the film is dead: “I don’t think we’re going to get one, not the way everything’’ turning out, Will is off doing another movie, and I don’t think it’s going to happen.”
Smith’s immediate schedule includes the “Suicide Squad” sequel and spin-off, Disney’s “Aladdin,” and promotional rounds for “Bright”.
