Netflix Renews “Castlevania”
Netflix has ordered a ten-episode third season of its animated medieval fantasy series “Castlevania” based on the classic Konami video games. The order comes as the second season just started streaming last week.
Penned by author Warren Ellis, the series follows Trevor (Richard Armitage), the last surviving member of the disgraced Belmont clan, who is trying to save Eastern Europe from extinction at the hand of the grief-maddened Vlad Dracula Tepes (Graham McTavish) and his sinister vampire war council. James Callis, Emily Swallow, Matt Frewer and Tony Amendola also voice roles.
The series has launched to a surprising amount of acclaim, pulling in a 71/100 on Metacritic and an 89% on Rotten Tomatoes for its first season. Its RT score rose to a stellar 100% for its second season, with fans frequently calling this the best screen adaptation of a video game to date.
