Netflix has released both the full trailer and a new featurette for the upcoming film adaptation of iconic manga series “Death Note”.

Adam Wingard (“The Guest,” “You’re Next”) helms the film which follows a high school student (Nat Wolff) who comes across a supernatural notebook, realizing it holds within it a great power; if the owner inscribes someone’s name into it while picturing their face, he or she will die.

Intoxicated with his new godlike abilities, the young man begins to kill those he deems unworthy of life. Willem Dafoe, Margaret Qualley, Keith Stanfield, Paul Nakauchi, and Shea Whigham co-star.

The film will premiere globally on Netflix on August 25th.

Following its panel yesterday afternoon at San Diego Comic Con, a new extended clip from filmmaker Adam Wingard’s upcoming film adaptation of the manga series “Death Note” has arrived.

Transferring the story to Seattle, the action follows Light Turner (Nat Wolff) who discovers a supernatural book that can kill whoever he pleases when he writes a name in the book and simultaneously pictures their death in his mind.

Light chooses to use this power, which is tied to the evil spirit Ryuk (Willem Dafoe), to rid the world of anyone he deems unworthy of life. Margaret Qualley, Lakeith Stansfield, Masi Oka and Shea Whigham co-star.

Wingard will next direct “Godzilla vs. Kong” and mentioned that film briefly during the “Death Note” presentation, commenting on the size differential between the two beasts: “They gave us a good out in Kong when they mentioned that Kong is still growing, but that’ll be a challenge we have to deal with, and we’re very aware of that issue.”

“Death Note” is available to stream August 25th.
