“Saw” sequel duo Patrick Melton and Marcus Dunstan will pen the script for a reboot of the “Final Destination” franchise at New Line.

The first movie in 2000 set up the premise – a character has a premonition of a deadly event, cheats his or her own death and saves several other lives in the process. Death, an invisible unstoppable force, then targeted the survivors one by one and took them out in increasingly elaborate kills.

Switching between more humorous and darker tones, the five films in the series grossed almost $700 million from relatively tight budgets. This is dubbed a ‘re-imagining’ but plot specifics are under wraps.
