This looks fun, I reckon. And it should lead nicely into Kong vs Godzilla in 2020.

“Kong” Timeline Video Teases Ghidorah

Following Gareth Edwards’ “Godzilla” in 2014 and Jordan Vogt-Roberts’ “Kong: Skull Island” this year, the next feature in Legendary’s interconnected MonsterVerse initiative is Michael Dougherty’s “Godzilla” sequel in 2019.

With “Kong: Skull Island” coming to Blu-ray this month, the film’s Twitter account has been posting some tie-in material with one of the new pieces a video that offers a timeline of monster discoveries made by the Monarch Corporation.

The timeline reveals that Monarch discovered a new superspecies with three heads under the Antarctic Ice in 2016 – a creature fans know as King Ghidorah. The timeline indicates a character named Dr. Vivienne Graham led the effort to build a covert containment and research facility around the dormant creature.

The timeline also confirms the discovery of Mothra in 2009, and teases a return expedition by Monarch to Skull Island in 1995. It has already been revealed that both aforementioned creatures and Rodan will all appear in Dougherty’s “Godzilla” follow-up.

Both films so far in the MonsterVerse have done very solid box-office of just over $520 million each, and are sitting on quite good reviews from critics.

Vera Farmiga, Kyle Chandler, Millie Bobby Brown, Charles Dance, Thomas Middleditch, Zhang Ziyi and Bradley Whitford will star in the “Godzilla” sequel which is currently filming and opens March 22nd 2019.

Godzilla: King of the Monsters

A full eight months before its release, Michael Dougherty’s “Godzilla: King of The Monsters” has officially been rated by the Motion Picture Association of America who has slapped the film with a PG-13 rating for “sequences of monster action violence and destruction, and for some language.”

Bryan Cranston and Ken Watanabe were the only bright spots in Godzilla. Aaron Taylor-Johnson had no personality and didn't do anything except look pretty. The movie would have been more interesting if they'd shown Godzilla eating someone.

The biggest problem with Godzilla was that Edwards decided that audiences didn't actually want to see kaiju action, and would rather have the camera move away from monster fights to focus on exposition. The same director who made a big deal out of having Vader in Rogue One, then only used him for about five minutes of the movie (I will admit, I think Rogue One is a pretty good film, even though the first act is rather jumbled and only gets its footing about 20 minutes in, but that's not the discussion here). I have really high hopes for King of the Monsters, and hope that we get some actual kaiju loving in this film (but, not like, you know, real kaiju loving, because that would be inappropriate, and I can see that for free on Tumblr).

Warner Bros. Pictures will release the new trailer for “Godzilla: King of the Monsters” on Sunday following its premiere at the CCXP Comic-Con Experience in Sao Paulo, Brazil this coming weekend.

Last week came word that the film will unleash its new trailer this week, the second trailer it has put out following the first which premiered at San Diego Comic-Con back in July to a rapturous response.

Talk stirred yesterday however that there had been a delay but the film’s director himself Mike Dougherty took to Twitter to announce that the new clip is coming on December 9th. With the presentation to begin 12:30pm US-ET, it’s expected the trailer is likely to go online shortly after.

“Godzilla” Sequel Won’t Hold Anything Back

godzilla-sequel-wont-hold-anything-back-696x464.jpg

When the Comic-Con trailer hit for Michael Dougherty’s “Godzilla: King of the Monsters” in July, it made itself known that this will be a monster rock-em-sock-em mashup with Godzilla taking on three villains – King Ghidorah, Mothra and Rodan – all in one outing.

Speaking with Bloody Disgusting), Dougherty says the aim was to change things up from the 2014 film which teased out its monster reveals. This time out, they’re not keeping anything aside for the next one:

“We have a lot of monsters. I think Gareth [Edwards] had a lot of fun playing cat-and-mouse and I love the slow-build he created. But we definitely take the gloves off for this film. No holding back.”

The sequel takes place five years after the events in the first film and these ancient super-species – thought to be mere myths – rise again and battle for supremacy and leaving humanity’s very existence hanging in the balance.

Zhang Ziyi, Kyle Chandler, Vera Farmiga, Millie Bobby Brown, O’Shea Jackson Jr., Bradley Whitford, Ken Watanabe, Thomas Middleditch, Charles Dance and Aisha Hinds star in the film opening May 31st 2019.
