Your thoughts on this movie......

A sports agent pitches a rookie basketball client on an intriguing and controversial business opportunity during a lockout.

Andre Holland will re-team with his “The Knick” director Steven Soderbergh for the new feature “High Flying Bird” which will begin shooting this month.

Tarell Alvin McCraney, who co-wrote the Oscar-winning “Moonlight” which starred Holland in a key role, is penning the script for the film in which Holland plays a sports agent who presents his rookie NBA client with ‘an intriguing and controversial business opportunity’ during an NBA lockout.

Soderbergh recently released the experimental “Mosaic” on HBO, has “Unsane” opening in cinemas in April and is set to produce and potentially direct the action-thriller “Planet Kill”. Holland will soon be seen in a leading role in Hulu’s “Castle Rock” series set in the world of Stephen King’s novels.

The first and on the surface least interesting of Steven Soderbergh’s two Netflix films this year, like “Unsane” this is an iPhone-shot very low budget drama albeit this time set in the world of professional sports. “The Knick” and “Moonlight” breakout Andre Holland stars as a sports agent who pitches a rookie basketball client on an intriguing and controversial business opportunity during a lockout. Caleb McLaughlin, Zachary Quinto, Zazie Beetz, Bill Duke, Kyle MacLachlan and Michelle Ang co-star in the film which will have its world premiere at the Slamdance Film Festival later this month ahead of hitting the service in early February.
