Tony Gilroy is in final talks to write and potentially direct an untitled thriller for Warner Bros. Pictures, Gilroy’s first big film for the studio since 2008’s “Michael Clayton”.

The project, which has been sitting in the Warners’ vaults for fifteen years under the name “Methuselah,” was penned by James Watkins. Previously the film had Tom Cruise attached to star and Joachim Rønning attached to direct.

Gilroy will give the project a creative overhaul except for the protagonist – a man who has managed to survive for four centuries without showing the physical signs of age. In that time, he has accumulated vast intellectual knowledge and skills.

David Heyman and Jeffrey Clifford will produce.

Your thoughts on this movie.....

A man has managed to stay alive for over four centuries without showing the physical signs of age. In that time he has accumulated vast intellectual knowledge, from multiple languages to the sciences, as well as survival skills.

The plan is for a potential franchise with a rich mythology.

Warner Bros. Pictures is reportedly in early negotiations with “Spider-Man: Homecoming” director Jon Watts to helm the long in development “Methuselah” which is being revived as a star vehicle for “Creed” and “Black Panther” actor Michael B. Jordan.

Jordan, whose Outlier Society label also produces, plays a man who has managed to stay alive for over four centuries without showing the physical signs of age. In that time he has accumulated vast intellectual knowledge, from multiple languages to the sciences, as well as survival skills.

The plan is for a potential franchise with a rich “Highlander”-esque mythology. David Heyman and Jeffrey Clifford will produce.

Tony Gilroy penned the most recent draft of the script, but the plan is fora new writer to come in and rewrite the film. Watts also helmed the upcoming “Spider-Man: Far From Home” launching in July.
