Your thoughts on this story....

Looking for scientists to help them find a way out of E-Space, K-9 locates a habitable planet for them to check out. They find a tower harboring royals overlooking a single village of grubby peasants, no fauna other than bats, and a band of rebels hiding out from a severe law that prohibits learning.

Bidmead took out all the Hammer stuff, entirely missing the point of this story.

The director complained and he had to put it all back in.

Having said that, and putting my Hammer fan credentials aside, I now feel compelled to wonder if this story put through a Bidmead filter would have been more interesting and perhaps even better?

It's been years since I have seen this serial, but I remember liking it simply for my unabashed love for vampires. The story, as I remember, was pretty lacking, but I was intrigued by the idea of the Time Lords fighting giant vampires and always wanted to see more about that.

Me too. This collision of Hammer type vampires and WHO was catnip for me at the time.

I wish they would publish the original script with - presumably - Leela. Or perhaps BIG FINISH could do it?

I thought that the Three Who Ruled were very well played and presented - and that hand coming out of the earth at the end was the stuff of nightmares for me at the time.
