Review The Crusade (1965)

Such a shame that this one was not animated, due I believe to concerns about the current political climate.

As a story, it was one of the first novelisations that I read and I always liked the opening with the Doctor and the crew discussing the alteration of history, leading into the tale proper.

As a story, it is also a shame that the final episode remains missing.

Julian Glover and Jean Marsh are excellent and Hartnell seems to be enjoying himself.

An enjoyable enough tale. Some of the dialogue is excellent indeed and the cast rises to the occasion.

Bernard Kay gives a chilling performance with his flatly ambiguous tones.

This was a story I loved through reading the novelisation and was always disappointed to not be able to see the original episodes. Having since seen the ones that survived I think this one is a case where the televised episodes lived up to the story.
