Jeff Tremaine (“Jackass”) helms this very long in the works biopic about notorious 1980s rock ‘n roll group Motley Crue who produced such hits as “Kickstart My Heart,” “Dr. Feelgood” and “Girls, Girls, Girls”. Originally at Paramount, then Focus and finally at Netflix – the film got made and boasts some intriguing casting including Douglas Booth as Nikki Sixx, Iwan Rheon as Mick Mars, Daniel Webber as Vince Neil and rapper Machine Gun Kelly as Tommy Lee. Ozzy Osbourne and Heather Locklear are characters in this adaptation of the Neil Strauss book and no-one is quite sure what to expect.

Netflix has released the first trailer for “The Dirt,” the biopic about the rise of 1980s heavy metal band Motley Crue based on the autobiography by Crue members Tommy Lee, Vince Neil, Mick Mars and Nikki Sixx along with author Neil Strauss.

The book follows the full run of their success and excess with drugs, high-heeled boots, makeup and celebrity love affairs – all while the band was selling more than 100 million records worldwide, falling out, and nearly dying from their lifestyle. Daniel Webber, Iwan Rheon, Douglas Booth and rapper Machine Gun Kelly star as the band.

Rich Wilkes and “Californication” creator Tom Kapinos penned the film which Jeff Tremaine helmed and has previously promised will be a “reckless and chaotic” look at their biography and one that won’t fall into the formulaic trap that often comes with biopics. The film hits the streamer on March 22nd.
