Your thoughts on this movie......

The dwarves, along with Bilbo Baggins and Gandalf the Grey, continue their quest to reclaim Erebor, their homeland, from Smaug. Bilbo Baggins is in possession of a mysterious and magical ring.

I loved the dragon in it's lair in this one - and the visuals of all that gold.

Other than that.....

Did it really need to be a trilogy?

Of course not. Even with the most generous allowance for stretching the material and adding in the White Council stuff, two movies would have been more than adequate. Instead we got the silly run around with the dragon and Thorin not immediately bursting into flames while riding a shield on molten gold, which had me sitting there wishing that Smaug would just kill them all already.
