Your thoughts on this movie....

An anthropologist goes to Haiti after hearing rumors about a drug used by black magic practitioners to turn people into zombies.

One of my favorite movies, period, but I didn't know a lot of that! I do know hat Wade Davis hated the movie for turning what he believes profound into dismissable pop escapism. Davis himself has had his credibility questioned. Hoping to read his book someday.

I agree with Roger Ebert that the film is a rarity for the horror genre in detailing the political angle. It's also got a winning cast, smart writing, good cinematography making the most of beautiful locales, and an affecting love story that feels integral rather than tacked on. It's the smartest movie Craven's ever made, and he's done some smart stuff.

I'll be there, till the stars don't shine
'Til the heavens burst and the words don't rhyme
I know when I die you'll be on my mind
And I'll love you, always
Always
