With the news that Yoko Ono has recently authorised a major motion picture telling of her relationship and marriage to John, does anyone remember this previous attempt starring Mark McGann as John and guest starring Peter Capaldi as George Harrison?

And what did you think of it?

Trivia: Originally a different actor was cast to play John in this made for tv movie.

Until Yoko found out his name: Mark Chapman.

She sacked him.

Hey! Let's go back in time and stop President Kennedy being assassinated!

Does anybody else recall this time travel t.v. movie, starring Robert (Starman) Hays and Catherine Hicks, along with Sam Wanamaker?

*****SPOILER WARNING****

Remember this fondly. I'm sure I had the VHS release at one point. As a sucker for a time travel story and the Kennedy assassination, this played straight into my wheelhouse. Particularly like subplot regarding the brother killed in Nam. Put an entirely different slant on his motives for preventing the assassination.

*****SPOILER WARNING****

Haven't seen this for about 20 years. Thanks Doc, I will try to dig this out tonight. See if my opinion has changed.

This film used to scare the hell out of my little sister. Which used to crack me up back in the day. I haven't seen it in years. I'd love to see it now. Of course, it would look pretty bad. But, it would bring me back to the fun days. I'd have to have a few Miller Lite's and a bowl of popcorn and give my sis a ring to laugh about it.

Fun movie I haven't seen in years with James Brolin. He's accidentally locked in a department store overnight after he's mugged in the men's room (I believe) and finds himself held at bay by six vicious Doberman guard dogs. It's not as good as "Duel", of course. But, I can recall it being an entertaining film. I know my father was terrified of dobermans and this really spooked him!

Some of these ABC "Movie of the Week" films are hard to find - but, are pretty damn good b-movies.

Poor Bill Shatner....

Before Star Trek: The Motion Picture came along, he was taking any work he could find. Including this film.

But still worth a watch, with his role as an alcoholic priest being a highlight.

The Norliss Tapes with Roy Thinnes, Satan's Triangle with Doug McClure, The two Night Stalker movies as well as Trilogy of Terror with Karen Black, Crowhaven Farm Etc... TV was so much better back in the seventies and the differences in ITVs regional transmissions! I had Anglia (which was pretty dull) ATV, which was okay and LWT/Thames which gave us a lot of great late night entertainment!

I had Granada and later Yorkshire.

And three UK channels only to start with, of course.

The arrival of a fourth UK channel was a HUGE event! lol :emoji_alien:

But yes, those tv movies were often scarier... eerier... than the theatrical Hollywood fare...

Channel 4 used to show programmes very near the knuckle like Hot gossip on stage and Hot For Dogs, which was a Saturday evening half hour show with gorgeous, lithe gals dancing to music on a stage and dressed in very little! It's a tragedy it was never repeated, or made a second series or even had a DVD release!

He did that up until relatively recently. He talks about it in his autobiography and how it probably hurt his career in the long run but he was afraid that if he stopped working, the work would stop coming. I think he described it as being afraid of not working. And it's a valid concern, many famous tv actors had their careers dry up.

His made for TV movie, Kingdom of the Spiders is one of my favorite spider movies. I remember watching it as a kid when it originally aired and being shocked by the ending. I watched it with my kids several years back and they still talk about the ending when the subject of spider movies comes up.

Dark Night of the Scarecrow is probably my favorite made for TV movie. Not only is it the best scarecrow movie ever made (admittedly not a high bar) but it's just a darn good movie.
