    Review The Space Pirates (1969)

I enjoyed the novelisation of this but having seen the reconstructions it seems like the episodes drag on forever with very little happening. While I'd never knock back the return of a missing episode (even The Feast of Steven), these would be towards the bottom of my wish list.

    Review Spearhead from Space (1970)

One of the two best post regeneration stories (the other being Power of the Daleks of course). A great start for the third Doctor and fantastic introduction (welcome back?) for UNIT and the Brigadier. And also the beginning of what is probably the most consistently good season of Doctor Who ever.

Review The Daleks' Master Plan (1965)

I always live in hope. And as technology improves the animation (should) become cheaper and make it more likely.

    Review Survival (1989)

I'll take The Curse of Fatal Death over Dimensions in Time any day of the week. Rowan Atkinson would have made a great Doctor. And it also gave us the first female Doctor. :emoji_alien: And the Master's dalek bumps :emoji_astonished:

Review The Daleks' Master Plan (1965)

This is one of the stories I would love to be able to see properly. I'd even settle for a decent animation (although given the number of episodes that would need to be animated I doubt it would be financially viable).

    Review The Celestial Toymaker (1966)

I'm glad they didn't go with their original plan to replace William Hartnell in this story. The plan was that after the Toymaker made him invisible, he'd be "reconstructed" with a different face. If they'd done that then they wouldn't have come up with the concept of regeneration and I doubt the...

    Review Logopolis (1981)

This was my first real introduction to Doctor Who. I'd seen a few episodes here and there in the past but this was the first time (prompted by a school friend who was a fanatic) that I had committed to sitting down and watching every episode. I was hooked from the start and a fan for life by the...

    Review The Dead Planet (1963)

I've just finished reading David Whittaker's novelisation of this. Given that it was the first of the series and no one was expecting every story to be novelised it takes elements of the beginning of An Unearthly Child and welds them on to the beginning, although Ian is given a different back...

    Review Time-flight (1982)

I never understood how anybody could think that they could get away with the special effects budget trying to make it look like a concorde was landing in the Pleistocene era. Or why The Master had to disguise himself when he wasn't expecting the Doctor to appear.

    Review Planet of Giants (1964)

Yes it all felt a bit pointless in the end. I'm glad they cut it down to three episodes from the original four. Otherwise it would have dragged on interminably. The idea was interesting and (surprisingly) the sets and effects worked really well. It just wasn't a great story. I'm rather surprised...

Review The Dalek Invasion of Earth (1964)

I actually saw the Peter Cushing movie version of this before I saw the original and then I read the novelisation. So when I finally saw the original it was a bit weird. But overall one of the best dalek stories ever.

    Review The Romans (1965)

I always struggled with this one. My first introduction was Donald Cotton's novelisation which was just weird. And when I eventually saw it I appreciated the humour (and you could see how much fun William Harnell was having hamming it up) but I also felt that the humour wasn't really appropriate...

    Review Enlightenment (1983)

I always found this story to be a bit ... narmy. The acting was just so over the top ridiculous that it kept pulling me out of what should have been a fascinatingly interesting story.

    Review Justice League (2017)

Just back from seeing it and I have to say that overall I enjoyed it. It wasn't perfect mainly suffering from having to set up Flash, Aquaman, and Cyborg as well as Steppenwolf and the mother boxes. Overall the set up was done pretty well, giving enough back story to give us an idea of the...

    Fun Worlds of DC

If Affleck isn't willing to commit to the role long enough to see the proposed trilogy out they should definitely consider recasting asap.

    Review An Unearthly Child (1963)

Just finished re-reading the novelisation of this as I decided to work through the entire series in order. I hadn't read it or watched the episodes in a few years. It's a lot more bloodthirsty than I remembered (although from memory that was more implied than shown in the televised episodes).

Review Murder on the Orient Express (2017)

My eldest is keen to see it so I might have to give it a go. I'm a bit of an Agatha Christie purist though, having read everything she wrote several times. So far David Suchet is the definitive Poirot but even the series they did with him took unnecessary liberties with the stories. The only...

    Review The Abominable Snowmen (1967)

The Massacre is high on my wish list. It would be fantastic to see William Hartnell's performance as the Abbott. The Myth Makers would also be interesting to see. Donald Cotton had an interesting novelisation style with the story being told by Homer but the first person narrative never really...

    Review Earthshock (1982)

So would I, but it is something that you can only do effectively once and then you need a long gap before it happens again. The original series killed off Katarina and Sara Kingdom in 1965? and then it wasn't until almost 20 years later that Adric was killed. The new series needs to make a...
