    Review Taxi (1978)

A pretty funny show. I never saw much of it, but I like what I have seen.

    Review Newhart

I remember seeing it first run on CBS, and loved it up until the last season (funny how many sitcoms I feel that way about). The humor was always pretty good, if at times repetitive. The twist ending for the finale makes my list for top five best sitcom endings ever. I also loved that, after the...

    Review Avengers: Infinity War (2018)

If you only watch one movie in the cinema this year, make it this one. This movie exceeded all expectations.

Controversial Poor Old Jar Jar: Is All the Hatred Warranted?

    Hahah! Or better yet, don't.

    Review Dragon Ball

It's not a bad series, but I will always love Dragon Ball Z.

    Review Don Rickles

A while back I caught a young(ish) Mr. Rickles on an old episode of The Addams Family. It's strange seeing him in a role where he isn't being Don Rickles.

Fun What TV Shows Are You Watching/Rewatching at the Moment?

Saturday nights were sacred in our house. For a while, our local PBS station would have Vincent Price hosting his old movies, mostly the Corman films. Then, they had a series where they would show old sci-fi films. And for a while, they did classic movies, which introduced me to so many great...

    Review Cinema-Going

One summer, my buddies and I went over to Cedar Falls where there was one of the last drive-ins left (now sadly closed). One time, we took my friend's parents van, and hid him in the very back, covered with blankets to get him in for free. We had stopped by Walmart on the way there and stocked...

    Review Cinema-Going

I remember going to a double bill of Star Trek V and Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. Our local theatre at the time would get movies a month or two after release, sometimes longer, and at the time had a video rental in the lobby. Indy 3 had already come out on video, so they took it off of...

    Review Racism

Here's the issue, though. A) Starbucks is known for loiterers. Many people go and sit there mainly for use of the WiFi, and never buy a single thing. B) The manager had a long history of making it known that she felt uncomfortable having customers of color, and treated them differently. She had...

Review The Curse of Frankenstein (1957)

I still absolutely adore this film. The way they took Frankenstein from being an ambitious but well-meaning doctor to being the actual monster of the piece was sheer brilliance. Cushing is absolutely cracking in the role, and Lee gets major points for bringing emotion through that makeup.

Review The Silence of the Lambs (1991)

Sorry, didn't realize that last one was dubbed. Mea culpa.

And from the classic 1994 film The Silence of the Hams.

    Review Teen Wolf (1985)

At first, I avoided the TV series. When I first saw commercials for it, my initial thought was "Shit, they Twilighted it!" Then my wife started watching it on Amazon when it was a couple of seasons in, and I caught a little bit, and was immediately hooked. I still haven't seen the last two...

    Review Comic Con

Alas, my lack of finances has kept me away from the biggest nerd congregation yet. It has finally come to Iowa the last several years, and every year, I try to save some cash for it, but life seems to continually get in the way. I do hope that, in the next few years, I can get enough scratch...

    Review Pearl Harbor (2001)

In this review, Nick Hodges reveals just why he hates Pearl Harbor, and wishes everyone would watch this movie instead.

    Review The Daemons (1971)

The obvious match up would have been Lee vs. Cushing, but yes, I can now see Woodward in the role. Very interesting thought that there's an alternate universe where this may have happened.
