Review Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 (2010)

It's also interesting that the fourth and fifth books in the series were larger than the seventh, but were squeezed into a single movie each. At the time there was discussion about splitting them into two movies and quite a lot had to be cut but both managed to work OK. I'm just in the process...

Review Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 (2010)

That's in keeping with the book. The first part did drag a bit, but that helped to set up the feeling of hopelessness of the task.

Review Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 2 (2017)

Definitely worth the money. My kids (and me and my wife) all loved it.

Review Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 2 (2017)

Just home from watching it. It opened this week in Australia. Its a fantastic movie. Lots of laugh out loud moments but still managed to have a heart.

    Review The Davison Doctor

Given that they'd managed to script and film two (and a half) prior stories with Nyssa as a companion you'd have thought that even if the scripts were completed they'd have had time to do some rewrites and include her. I wonder if she got paid despite not being included. I assume she'd have...

    Review The Flash (2014)

I'm getting a little over every big bad being a speedster. Isn't there a single one of his other many enemies that could function as a big bad? I'd love to see how someone countered his powers by something other than just having the same power as him.

    Review The Tom Baker Doctor

I wouldn't mind seeing Sutekh back as a villain. Or another Osiran.

    Review The Tom Baker Doctor

Junior novelisation? What age range were they targeted at? Even at 12 I found the standard novelisations easy reading.

    Review Doctor Who Monsters

One can only hope. Animation costs are going down regularly. Hopefully eventually there'll come a time when we can get animations of all the missing episodes. Then we can all start agitating for CG reconstructions of the live actors similar to Peter Cushing's recent (undead) performance in Rogue...

    Review Doctor Who Monsters

Unfortunately this aired before I was born so I missed seeing it. And the reconstructions don't really do it justice. At least we (eventually) got a novelisation which I loved reading to discover a story I knew nothing about at the time. I'd love to see an animated version (assuming that finding...

    Review The Classic Who Writers

Sounds like an interesting concept. I wonder if my local library might have a copy. Although, to be honest, I always found Terrance's writing (from a novelisation perspective) to be fairly bland.

    Review The Davison Doctor

One of the few real "sequels" in Classic Who (the other one that comes to mind is Monster of Peladon). Does anyone know why Nyssa was absent from this one? I know she collapsed and stayed in the TARDIS with a mind-thingy on her head, but what was the real world reason for her absence? Was Sarah...

    Review The Tom Baker Doctor

This is the story that I first came in on as a regular viewer. My memories of the time are largely about Tegan's entry to the TARDIS. Most of the rest of the story didn't really stay with me (except for the ending of course) until later viewings.

    Review Smile (2017)

I hadn't looked at it in that light. I'll have to reconsider it on rewatch. It did (for me) highlight the weakness of the 40 minute episode run time. While the build up exploring the city and working out what was happening was good, the discovery of the cause and the resolution felt very rushed...

    Review Smile (2017)

I'd forgotten it was on :emoji_frowning2:. Not an encouraging sign for the series. I thought it was an OK episode. Nothing special or memorable so far. And once again we get a magic reset button :emoji_angry:.

    Review The Tripods (1984)

It seems odd that it wasn't rushed into development during the recent craze for dystopian teen drama (Hunger Games, Divergent, Maze Runner, etc).

    Review The Tripods (1984)

This story has always been one of my favourite book series. I'm astonished that no one has made it into a big budget trilogy yet.

    Review Doctor Who Monsters

The New Zealand Doctor Who Fan Club did a series of fan written novelisations of the serials that hadn't been professionally done. Resurrection of the Daleks is here - http://doctorwho.org.nz/archive/resurrection/ They're pretty lightweight versions, basically being not much more than a...
