Review Star Trek: The Motion Picture (1979)

I have attempted twice in the last few years to sit and re-watch this one, and I fall asleep every time. It's stunning to look at. The visuals, the colors, the effects. But it feels, at least to me, to be much too long. Only my opinion, of course, mate. But yeah, I just can't get into it.

    Fun The Trek Franchise!

I think the fact that he kept the franchise going for as long as he did makes him somewhat of a savior. He helped keep Rodenberry from taking it and completely ruining it, as I feel he would have eventually done. However, I think he could have pushed to have done more, and expanded even further...

    Fun The STAR WARS Franchise

From what I had gathered - and I don't know if this was speculation on the part of an interviewer or George's own admission - Lucas wanted to basically make Episodes VII-IX with more political drama via the prequels, and less about fan service. I know he made comments that he didn't want to just...

    Fun The Terminator Franchise!

He was in some British show. He was a professor, or something, and lived in a phone booth. I dunno, I don't watch such things.

    Review Toonami

I had completely forgotten about that! Wow, five years has gone by fast. Anyone who doesn't remember, here's what happened: http://toonami.wikia.com/wiki/April_Fools_2012

Review What Book Are You Reading?

I've never actually read any of the 007 novels. I have always meant to, just never got around to it. I have a stack of books I need to get to, but I don't get much time to read these day, which I resent. I've many a STAR WARS book I've picked up and need to read. I also need to dig out my copy...

    Review Toonami

I haven't been an avid Toonami viewer in a few years, now. I remember when it started, and how for years it was a way for a lot of us to see some really great anime that wasn't readily available here. A couple of years ago, it seemed like they got away from showing good anime, with the exception...

    Review Religion US vs. Europe.

My wishing to leave isn't based on my lack of faith/belief, but more on the fact that those in charge are looking to take away personal rights based on others' "Religious Liberties", which is a bullshit way of saying "establishing a state religion", which is prohibited by the Constitution...

Review Star Trek V: The Final Frontier (1989)

I am so glad he wasn't handed the reigns on Star Trek VI. I thoroughly love Undiscovered Country. It really was a perfect wrap for the original crew.

Fun What TV Shows Are You Watching/Rewatching at the Moment?

It only lasted six episodes, but it was a very cool show. Definitely should have been given more of a chance than it was.

Review Star Trek V: The Final Frontier (1989)

I know Shat has gone on at length about how the studio heads ruined this film with budget cuts and interference, but honestly, I don't think that mattered. I think this would have been a terrible movie even if Bill had been given everything he had wanted.

Review Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home (1986)

A truly great film. I especially love that the social message is there, but not as heavy handed as it could have been. Wonderful humor, and an interesting twist to not have a villain in the traditional sense.

    Review Religion US vs. Europe.

As an American, I can vouch for religion being spoonfed. I grew up in a christian household, albeit a liberal one. My mom encouraged me to read about all things, and to question and never take anything at face value. Eventually I became an atheist, realizing that not only did belief in a supreme...

Fun Your Top 5 Horror Movies

Let the Right One In is a modern classic! I absolutely love that film. I want to see the American remake, but kind of don't, because I get sick of American remakes, and I fail to see how it could be improved upon.

    Fun The STAR WARS Franchise

Money was hard to come by for my folks, so movie going became a treasured experience for me. Somehow, I was able to see JEDI twice that summer. TPM was such a fun time. I went to the other two prequels at midnight, but due to work schedules, I didn't get there till about 10 pm those nights...

    Fun Sir Alfred Hitchcock

I highly recommend a great many of his films. Hitch truly was a master of his craft, creating real tension and suspense, something that more modern directors need to learn.

    Fun Sir Alfred Hitchcock

Strangely, I only have two of Hitch's movies in my collection. PSYCHO, which is required viewing, and ROPE, which is my favorite of his films. That's one of those movies that should be held in high esteem by anyone who loves film.
