Controversial The IMDF Conflict Zone!

Updated now. I'll stop looking at all the options now and be satisfied with my vote, because there are too many interesting shows. I want to watch about 3/4 of them.
I feel the very same way!
Anyway, sorry for my absence most of the day. We had a power outage (you know, those darned tropical storms...) and the power just came back. The hard part was sleeping without air conditioning in a summer night. (At least that is something @ant-mac and I can relate to.)

I'll be giving closure to this thread today.

With the exception of today, the previous 4 or 5 days have been around 45 degrees. The nights have stayed in the mid to high 20s. Today it was only about 36 or so - but also very humid.

There are power blackouts here all the time, but the last time there was an extended power blackout during summer, I spent the day in the bathtub, reading.

So... What's happening?

True, but Mad-Pac's not American. He's Brazilian.

And I know what you're going to say... So shut up! :emoji_wink:
Actually I think most South Americans (and Canadians) prefer to be identified in a way that separates them from the USAians. And since the USA seems to have claimed American, they don't want to be confused for people who might have voted for Trump.

Can't say I blame them.

But you have to feel sorry for the Seeker, CSM and other Yanks on the message board who also can't stand Agent Orange...

And the winner is...

BLAKE’S 7

Imagine my surprise!

Imagine my shock!

Unbelievably, against all odds, that’s the winning show.

Congratulations, Blake’s 7 fans. You’ll have a chance of watching this show yet once more. And non-fans, for the first time.

Here are the results of your votes:

Shows ranked.jpg

Traditionally our viewings happen on Fridays, so, if that is maintained, the entry of the first episode of Blake’s 7 should be posted by Friday the 16th.

A note about spoilers: I know some of you probably know the lines of this show by heart, but for this little exercise of ours I strongly recommend that you pretend you’re like Jon Snow, that is, you know nothing but what is presented up to the episode currently being watched. I know this is hard, and we’ve often encountered some real-life characters who simply didn’t know how to comment on an episode if it were not by mentioning happening later.

And sometimes, even alluding certain facts already constitutes a spoiler, since people are not stupid. So, if you say something like, on episode 36 we’re going to learn whether the Venusian Space Pirates have a mole on Earth Central, of course the Venusian Space Pirates have a goddam mole in Earth Central, duh! Better not mention mole any time and let the reveal be a surprise for the beginners.

AND NOW I’M GOING TO ANNOUNCE SOME EXECTUTIVE DECISIONS

1. It would make no sense if I, who didn’t know this show even existed until recently, were to present and make a brief synopsis of each episode for you people who have watched it more than once. Therefore, I’m stepping down as group coordinator as of today, and I appoint Michael Levenson as my replacement, at least transitionally. I believe Michael is the best person for the job, since he already knows how we usually work and also has the passion of a typical Blake’s 7 diehard fan.

2. I’ll still be taking part as a regular member, but my new position will give me the necessary freedom to enjoy the show at ease and for as many episodes I find appropriate. I’ll surely be watching and commenting on the pilot.

3. I also see the “Sages” as a kind of franchise. We have the traditional “Sages of the Single Season,” which is the old dynamics. But now we have this wonderful group that’s more incline towards long-running cult British shows. You see, I think the name “Sages of the Single Season” no longer applies, as the USS Single Season ship has sailed. Therefore, as one of my final acts, I’m rechristening this Sages chapter as “BLAKE’S SAGES,” but you can change it later, but hopefully not back.

4. Meanwhile, I haven’t given up on the single season project. That has always been the defining factor in the shows we chose, and what made this group unique, otherwise it would have been just any other regular TV discussion forum. So, in parallel to our viewings of Blake’s 7, I, and whoever wants to come with me, will also be vieweing the second best voted show, which also happens to be a single season show.

5. If everything goes according to plan, this show should be STAR COPS. However, first I have to confirm who will also be attending this other board. If the people who voted for Star Cops will attend the other board, Star Cops it is. Otherwise, we’ll pick the show that is the most voted among the people who are actually going to take part in it. And if it’s just be, well, that simplifies things a great deal in terms of choices. The viewings in that board will also begin on Friday the 16th.

6. Please, @ant-mac or some other administrator, e ready to open a board for either “Star Cops,” “Welcome to Paradox” or “Dead Like Me,” depending on who is going to take part in it. I’ll be confirming that soon enough.

7. Somehow I think there was more I wanted to say, but nothing occurs to me now, so I’ll stop here. Any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask.

You always have to specify Celcius on international sites, otherwise the Americans get confused and think it's really cold.
It's just that 45ºC sounded awfully hot for what I'm used to, and 45ºF, awfully cold for this time of the year. Besides, I'm not a meteorologist, but some sort of amateur carpenter, so angles is what came to mind. A nice, clean, symmetric 45º angle.

However, in the context of our brief discussion, your interpretation made no sense.

The subject of the weather had come up, not carpentry.

It's not the “BLAKE’S SAGES,”.

It's the IMDF Sages.

And we won't just be watching "long-running cult British shows".

It just happens that one was voted for on this occasion.

And why are you splitting up the group? Has this ever been done before?

Sadly 45ºC is becoming more common here in Australia. And where I live in NSW, although it doesn't often get quite that hot, multiple days of 40ºC+ aren't uncommon.
