Lopez To Star & May Direct “The Godmother”

Jennifer Lopez will produce, star in, and may potentially direct the drug lord drama “The Godmother” for STXfilms.


Lopez will portray Colombian drug lord Griselda Blanco in a story that follows her life as she outsmarted and outhustled the men around her to rise from an impoverished childhood in Colombia to become one of the world’s biggest drug lords who was reportedly worth more than $2 billion.

Blanco was ultimately murdered in Colombia in 2012. Lopez will produce along with Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas, Benny Medina, and Julie Yorn. Regina Corrado and Terence Winter penned the script.

Griselda Blanco Restrepo, February 15, 1943 – September 3, 2012, known as La Madrina, the Black Widow, the Cocaine Godmother and the Queen of Narco-Trafficking.

I've seen a documentary about her and if this film is halfway accurate and decent, it should be an excellent watch.

I'm certainly looking forward to it.
