I suspect those lines have probably made their way into many shows between Blake's 7 and Firefly. Although, there are a lot of Blake's 7 elements in Firefly. It's not the same show but its certainly a spiritual successor.

This is one story that definitely warranted the number of episodes.

I will agree that the cast did appear to have had a tremendous amount of fun making The Gunfighters.

Unfortunately there were a few stories like that in the early years. The six episode stories were to enable the sets to be used for a reasonable time and allow time to create and plan the next one. Unfortunately the episode numbers were assigned to stories rather than identify which stories...

Funnily enough, I'm not generally a fan of remakes especially not of classics that have aged as well as this one, but for some reason I think I'd be keen to see a Netflix remake of this as a single limited episode series.

I too first found this story in the target novelisation, which I thoroughly enjoyed. However even reading the book I realised that the ambitious nature of the story must have been almost impossible to film for television with any real adequacy. Watching the episodes many years later I admired...

It's worth watching once you persevere through the worst of the early episodes. It remains my favourite ST series and I'm rewatching it again now (in between episodes of Enterprise, Game of Thrones, Daredevil and the IT Crowd).

This is what frustrates me about most of the current Star Trek. They keep saying that having everyone get along is too hard to write creatively for, which ignores the fact that it was quite succesfully done in both TOS and TNG which remain incredibly popular.

Just finished season 2 with an episode that felt like nothing more than a set up for season 3. A fairly "meh" episode to be honest, despite what should have been massively shocking with Trip's sister being killed. It just never felt like anything more than setup. Still, I'm looking forward to...

In most cases I'd suggest this was the best approach, however if you're planning a trilogy and don't have any ideas about where its going or how it ends while making the middle episode, it's more likely to cause problems. I'd be surprised if there wasn't at least some thoughts on how the story...

Of course we don't, but since the characters are public domain its a cheap, well known story for a studio to use. It's the same reason we keep getting King Arthur remakes. Since it's not limited to one studio you can have half a dozen versions in development at the same time.

Definitely the right move - only challenge is that the kid will age significantly between movies which could cause challenges.
