“Thrones” S7 Finale Is Longest Episode To Date

HBO has confirmed that this Sunday’s seventh season finale of its big-budget fantasy drama “Game of Thrones” will be the longest episode in the series’ history to date.

Titled “The Dragon and the Wolf,” the episode is set to clock in at a near feature-length 79 minutes and 43 seconds.

The finale puts the focus on a meeting between Jon Snow and Daenerys Targaryen with Queen Cersei Lannister to discuss how to deal with the imminent threat of a White Walker invasion.

Fans have already begun speculating about the title and how the true lineage of Jon Snow may come out as part of a plot point and potentially drive a wedge between blossoming allies.

Well, I think it was happening at the present time. But Bran will see it.
So, Jon is doing his aunt. It's the Targaryen way, if you look at the family tree.
Cersei is a real bitch, she is even colder than the night king. I did like how she kept her cool when she saw the dragons.

“Thrones” Finale Jon Reveal Gets A Tribute

Though it was essentially spelling out facts already explained earlier in the series, the recent seventh season finale made the full truth about Jon Snow’s parentage clear.

It’s a reveal the show has been building to right from the first season, and now a new compilation video from Georgian YouTuber ‘TheGaroStudios’ has carefully organised and laid out the seven years of clues leading up to the truth in a new several minute and very well-edited montage.

Even if you’re fan having seen the series throughout, the clip helps remind you of several conversations and key moments that may have seemed innocent or even forgettable at the time which now take on a new meaning.

The final season of “Game of Thrones” begins production later this year.

“Thrones” S7 Pirated More Than One Billion Times

HBO’s fantasy drama “Game of Thrones” is famously the most pirated drama on television, but by how much may surprise you.

Variety reports the recent seven-episode seventh season of the series has been illegally downloaded or streamed more than one billion times.

The stats come from a report from anti-piracy firm MUSO who also tracked piracy within the first 72 hours of initial broadcast. In that period the season premiere was illegally downloaded or streamed more than 90 million times, and the finale more than 120 million times.

Of the 1.03 billion total instances of piracy, 84.66% were streams, 9.12% were torrents, and 5.59% were downloads.

Multiple “Thrones” Endings To Be Filmed

multiple-thrones-endings-to-be-filmed-696x464.jpg

In an attempt to stay ahead of leaks or hacks, HBO has come up with an elaborate way to keep the ending to the series top secret – they’ll make several of them.

It’s not an unusual tactic, one quite a few high profile cable shows have done in the past including HBO’s own “The Sopranos”. Casey Bloys, HBO president of programming, visited Moravian College in his hometown of Bethlehem, PA recently and the local Morning Call news scored a quote about the network’s plans:

“[We’ll] shoot multiple versions so that nobody really know what happens. You have to do that on a long show. Because when you’re shooting something, people know. So they’re going to shoot multiple versions so that there’s no definitive answer until the end.”

The comments come in the wake of both a seventh season of the series that was the subject of numerous leaks, all faults within HBO’s own infrastructure as opposed to outside influences. At the same time, the network was the subject of one of the biggest hacks in the industry to date.

The six-episode eighth and final season of “Game Of Thrones” begins production next month with the shoot to run through into next Summer.

Final “Thrones” Season Will Cost $15M Per Ep

HBO’s six-episode final season of “Game of Thrones” isn’t coming cheap with Varietyreporting that the episodes will come in at a budget of $15 million each.

That would make it one of the more costly series around, above Netflix’s “The Get Down” at $11M, “The Crown” and “Westworld” at $10M and the likes of “American Gods” and “Stranger Things” at $8M.

Of course, reports are the new episodes will all clock in at well over an hour a piece which makes the extra expenditure quite justifiable. Filming on the final batch of episodes kicks off soon ahead of an early 2019 airing.

Blimey it's ending? As someone who has only seen the first series of ten episodes (but will see two and three at least) I had thoughts that this show would go on forever! The Walking Dead has reached series eight and there is no end in sight...

They are planning spin offs galore apparently. Prequels, sequels, sidequels. I am sure that they will end up fatiguing the public in one way or another and people will be sick of it. Such a shame when they milk an idea and this particular creative universe to death, instead of knowing when to quit.

emember the Game of Thrones hack back in July that made HBO roar like Viserion with an ice spear in his side? As we know, four months ago, a hacker lifted 1.5 terabytes of precious HBO files, including a script from a future episode of Game of Thrones. HBO swore bloody vengeance to work with law enforcement until the perpetrator was found and brought to justice.

The perpetrator has been found. But he can’t be brought to justice.

According to The New York Times, the digital thief has apparently been identified as Iranian national Behzad Mesri. But, the United States severed diplomatic ties with Iran back in 1980. Therefore, the nation has no extradition treaty. This means it’s likely he’ll remain free from prosecution.

After Mesri hacked into HBO’s servers, he tried to extort the network by offering back the data in exchange for $6 million in the digital currency Bitcoin. When HBO refused, Mesri unleashed an unaired script for Games of Thrones, episodes of upcoming HBO shows such as The Deuce, and actors’ personal phone numbers.

This brazen crime has put Mezri on the FBI’s wanted list. Its list of crimes against Mesri include unauthorized access to a protected computer and aggravated identity theft.

In an email, a representative from HBO told SYFY WIRE, “HBO has confirmed in the past that we were working with law enforcement from the early stages of the cyber incident. As far as the criminal case is concerned, we prefer to leave any comments to the US Attorney’s Office.”

The U.S. attorney's office in fact commented on Tuesday. Wired writes that in a press conference, Joon H. Kim, acting United States attorney for the Southern District of New York, said, “He now stands charged with federal crimes, and although not arrested today, he will forever have to look over his shoulder until he is made to face justice.”

But the HBO hack isn't Mesri's only crimes. The New York Times writes that cybersecurity researcher Collin Anderson has linked Mesri with government-sponsored hackers. However, the FBI has not currently indicted Mesri for other crimes.

Now that Mesri is on the FBI Wanted list, he will be unable fly into a country with ties to the United States for fear of extradition. At this point, it looks like the only way he’ll be able to fly out of Iran is on the back of a dragon.

“Game of Thrones” S8 Locked For 2019

game-of-thrones-s8-locked-for-2019-696x464.jpg

It has been rumored, but now it has seemingly been confirmed by actress Sophie Turner that the eighth and final season of “Game of Thrones,” consisting of six movie-length episodes, won’t hit until 2019.

Speaking with Variety, Turner confirmed the later than usual airing and spoke about her character’s place in the final batch of episodes:

“It’s going to be tricky for her, because at the end of last season, she felt that she had everything set up. She had her family back together. They were in control of the North again. This season, there’s a new threat, and all of a sudden she finds herself somewhat back in the deep end. And without Littlefinger, it’s a test for her of whether she can get through it. It’s a big challenge for her, without this master manipulator having her back. This season is more a passionate fight for her than a political, manipulative kind of fight.”

All the major cast is back for the new episodes which are currently in production that will continue well into next year with another 6-7 months to go.

Its long been rumored but now it’s official – HBO has confirmed in an announcement that the eighth and final season of “Game of Thrones” will not air until 2019. A specific premiere date has yet to be announced and HBO’s statement did not provide any further information.

Production on the final season is expected to stretch well over eight months with many of the remaining episodes expected to be ‘supersized’ and borderline feature length (that hasn’t been confirmed). Filming began in October and will continue through until August this year.

Directors for season eight are showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, David Nutter and Miguel Sapochnik. Writers are Benioff and Weiss, Bryan Cogman and Dave Hill.

I just finished season 1 last night, and this has immediately become one of my favorite shows. The writing is great, the story is straight forward, the actors are amazing, and the show is visually stunning. I'm just about to start season 2.

Also - and may my fellow lefties for give me - but damn. So many sweater yams.
