2 Live Crew Get A Biopic In “Book Of Luke”

2-live-crew-get-a-biopic-in-book-of-luke-696x464.jpg

Lionsgate is working on the 2 Live Crew biopic “The Book Of Luke” for Temple Hill, a feature based on leader Luther Campbell’s autobiography. “Me And Earl And The Dying Girl” and “Power Rangers” actor R.J. Cyler is being lined up to play Campbell.

Craig A. Williams is adapting the script about how Liberty City-born Campbell joined the rap group in the 1980s and became known as ‘The King of Dirty Rap’.

He was sued for copyright infringement in 1994, but the U.S. Supreme Court found in his favour for his use of sampling of Roy Orbison’s “Oh Pretty Woman”. The decision paved the way for fair use sampling for music judged to be parody.

Marty Bowen and Wyck Godfrey will produce.

Fossil Hunters Drama ‘Remarkable Creatures’ Movie in the Works

remarkable-creatures.jpg

Tracy Chevalier’s historical drama, "Remarkable Creatures",is in development as a movie

“Tracy is a brilliant storyteller and tremendous talent,” Cartsonis said. “We couldn’t be more thrilled to bring her into our Resonate family. We created this new company to develop and produce complex and interesting female characters and ‘Remarkable Creatures’ embodies that idea.”

“Remarkable Creatures” is set against the dramatic landscape of the English coastal town of Lyme-Regis and centers on two female 19th century fossil hunters who make significant discoveries that changed the scientific world forever. The story reveals invisible women in science who were influential but marginalized and whose accomplishments were appropriated by men.

“The themes that the book explores of gender, class, female friendship and scientific discovery could not be more timely,” said Farwell. “Female scientists have been left out of the history books and Tracy Chevalier has brought these two remarkable women back to life in her wonderful book.”

“Remarkable Creatures” was published in 2009 and became a New York Times bestseller. Chevalier also wrote “Girl With a Pearl Earring,” which was adapted as a 2003 film starring Scarlett Johansson and Colin Firth.

“I’m thrilled that ‘Remarkable Creatures’ is coming to the big screen,” said Chevalier. “I’ve always said I wrote the book to make fossils sexy. Now they will get their moment in the movies. And given the recent box-office success of ‘Hidden Figures,’ we know there’s a hunger for smart movies about smart women.”

I have absolutely no faith in this project. The first one is a product of its time, and I can't believe that a remake could do justice to the original. The original is a horror classic. Plus, Max seems like a complete tool.

The original film is an absolute classic. A pure gem. Why fuck with perfection - for what it was - when there's no need to?

And where are they going to find a cast that can match the original? Jenny Agutter, David Naughton, Jenny Agutter, Griffin Dunne, Jenny Agutter, John Woodvine, Jenny Agutter... They were all absolutely perfect in their respective roles. And did I mention that Jenny Agutter's in it too? :emoji_innocent:

Johnston Shoots Down “Silver Chair” Report

johnston-shoots-down-silver-chair-report-696x464.jpg

Yesterday a link popped up on Reddit showing what appeared to be a leaked copy of the press notes for the in the works adaptation of C.S. Lewis’ “The Chronicles of Narnia: The Silver Chair”.

At last report last year, Joe Johnston is directing this fourth film in the series (based on the sixth novel overall) which is in active development and would serve as a semi-reboot. As there are only three key returning characters – Eustace Scrubb, a much older Caspian and Aslan – changes are easy to incorporate.

The apparent leaked press release indicated the film would undergo a five-month shoot starting in November in New Zealand and went on to list a bunch of crew members involved in the production.

There’s just one problem, it’s a fake. Johnston himself quickly shot down the report, saying on Twitter: “No truth to any “new” information posted about #TheSilverChair on Reddit at the moment, folks. Please confirm here first. Thanks. #FakeNews ”

So much for that. “The Silver Chair” still hasn’t announced a release or production date at this time.

David Ayer Departs “Scarface” Reboot

david-ayer-departs-scarface-reboot-696x464.jpg

“Suicide Squad” and “End of Watch” helmer David Ayer has reportedly dropped out of directing the second remake of “Scarface” at Universal Pictures.

Ayer’s take on the script was dubbed “too dark” for the studio’s taste, an odd claim as the De Palma remake is not short on bloody and brutal scenes and is considered a contemporary gangster film classic.

Diego Luna remains attached to star in the new take which will follow the rise and fall of a West Coast Latino gangster in Los Angeles. Dylan Clark and Martin Bregman will produce.

Ayer marks the second director to drop out of the film, the other being Antoine Fuqua who was attached but left early this year due to scheduling conflicts. David MacKenzie and Peter Berg were also circling at one point before Ayer came onboard.

Angelina Jolie is reportedly stalling on signing on to a role in the upcoming remake of Bride of Frankenstein because of an alleged plot to annoy her "rival," Charlize Theron.

According to a new report, producers of the film are courting Jolie for the film and Theron was allegedly been tapped as a runner-up.

While it is unclear whether or not Jolie is actually interested in appearing in the film, she has reportedly made it impossible for Theron to sign onto any other projects as she awaits Jolie's final decision.

"Angie hasn't made a deal with Universal to do their next monster flick, but the offer's still on the table. She could use the $20m paycheck," an insider told Radar Online on Thursday. "She seems to enjoy sticking it to Charlize, who wanted to do this film and is convinced Angie stepped in to take it off her."

Jolie is newly single after splitting from her former husband, Brad Pitt, after two years of marriage and six children. Although, she isn't exactly hurting for cash as she's reportedly worth a whopping $160 million.

As Radar Online explained, Jolie and Theron have reportedly been involved in an alleged Hollywood turf war in recent years and the tension between them reportedly escalated after Theron was considered for a role in the Murder on the Orient Express remake, which Jolie initially turned down.

"The hate fest between these two started a long time ago and just won't stop," the insider said. "It's as though directors are getting a buzz out of playing them against each other, by dangling a script to both of them then leaving them to bitch and slug it out."

Kristen Stewart Replacing Angelina Jolie In ‘Bride Of Frankenstein’ Remake?

Angelina-Jolie-Kristen-Stewart-Bride-Of-Frankenstein.jpg

Is Kristen Stewart really replacing Angelina Jolie in the upcoming Bride of Frankensteinremake? Gossip Cop looked into this tabloid story, and we’ve exclusively learned the truth.

Universal Pictures is courting Jolie for the title role in the 2019 reboot of the iconic monster movie, but an article in the latest issue of the National Enquirer claims the film’s producers are becoming fed up with the actress’s demands. A supposed “source” tells the magazine, “The Frankenstein bosses hated that A-lister Angie – endlessly creating monster delays over minor production, script and scheduling conflicts – obviously wasn’t dying for the part.”
