Cheers for that John. I think just a True Crime Category for the moment, so I can start threads would be best for now, and then see if it grows to ever needing any kind of sub-boards. And I will link the existent urls asap too. Thanks again. Much appreciated. :emoji_alien:

a True Crime Category,
I think that's a great idea and would suggest we do: movies, books, historical and present day... but I'll feed this to Doc as well to see what he thinks...

I think these might be all of the existent ones that could be moved into the board
So what do you think about the thread ideas I had? Head the topic "True Crimes" and then each of your "crimes" could be cross-referenced (if that's possible DeJ?) under "M", "Books", "Historical" and "Current/ 20th/21st century from the inside of the topic itself. That way we could draw comparisons linked by the genre's (of sorts) themselves. Then, just like pulling a single statement out of a post to "reply" to, we could replace/copy the comments from each crime to all of the ways it's been put out to the public to digest and learn more about. It's not the greatest of descriptions (wow, the words failed me big time on this notion of mine!)) but, if you follow me and if DeJ could code it that way we could comment on "JFK" under books, movies and era (using news articles from the time and such) and do the same with Marylin and JTR and multiple other stories/mediums. So crimes themselves could be one topic but discussed back and forth across the ways in which the stories have been told.

Hope that made sense, hope you like the thought and hope The Great and Powerful OZ could do it.... or would it need to be @Alex Vojacek who puts it together? Anyway, I'll be shuttin' up know and leaving it to the professionals!

Could we have a "Log Off" button at the top of each page, in the red area of each page.
Please:emoji_hugging::emoji_purple_heart:
It's already there!

just hover over your name at the top red bar, even when you're scrolling, when your profile opens up, you click on "Log out" at the bottom.

@Janine The Barefoot that is too complex to implement but the general idea of tagging topics is already implemented.

This is easy to solve. Each time you create a new thread, be sure to name the topic after a common tag, like "JFK". This can be easily added in the tags section, just under the main window where you type your post. You can add as many tags as you want separated with a comma.

tags.jpg

After the post is published, the tag will be available globally so, doing a simple "search" on the forum for "JFK" will bring about all the posts where that tag is mentioned.

Why Do I Keep Coming Back To IMDForum?

Last night, I was trying to think of why I keep coming back, and still post new threads on here. Then it dawned on me, this site is completely new. It means we have a fresh start. We can mold this place however we want. Post a bunch of new stuff, topics, and whatever else we like.
I'm on some of the other forums, and was looking at many of the threads. On most sites the threads in some areas that are mostly dead, or are just blank on other forums. I noticed this on the forum sites that have some parts of the old IMDB boards. Some of the threads are months old, and no new postings in them. These sites do not have all the posts from the very beginning of the site. They might maybe have the last three or four months of the IMDB boards. One thing is none of the sites have any posts from the very last 24 hours of the IMDB, but a week or two before the deletion.
True, the other forums have the numbers, but most of the members are not posting. I think everyone was running around, trying on new sites, trying to find the site that was damn near similar to IMDB. Maybe this is how some of the board sites have the numbers? People followed the old board, hoping everyone was on there.
I also noticed if you talk about one site, many are willing to bash the site you're promoting. Instead of letting people jump around, and check things out for themselves. It's easier to say well, that sites dead, and no one posts. I love the scare tactic card, people use on some of the posts. If all the forum sites were to completely merged than you might get another IMDB. The thing I sort of like is all these boards have a different crowd with them. Even TCM's boards are well boring at times, and not many of postings going on there.

Somethings I noticed and turns me away from most sites.
On the other forum sites I'm noticing a bunch of Trolls popping up. Instead of blocking or deleting the trolls, most are welcoming them back. Wait a minute, you guys whined how they hurt the boards, but yet want them back. I think some people like poking the bear with a stick.

The bathroom sounds or what sounds people make in the bedroom posts. Why do people have to post that on there? I often wonder if some of the posts are that of a kid or even a teenager. I have even had people message me and do up the old A/S/L message. These posts are sometimes in the general boards.

Some of the forums to me feel like a clusterfuck pile, and are everywhere on some of the sites. There's no order, just have to dig through the pages of postings till you find what you want.

Bad moderators are another one that push me away from some sites. If a mod isn't doing there job, then why stay on sites? Maybe the mods get a nut off watching people fight, or posting inappropriate stuff?

What I'm mostly pointing out is we have a damn good site here. It's clean, warped, sarcastic, informative, non trolled, humoured bunch, fandom fans, and nicely moded. This site could take off. It has what people are wanting, and saying about on other forums. I just wish the nay-sayers would allow the others to explore, and if they want to jump, let them. If on the other sites people keep posting how they don't like this and that. Yet, nothing is happening, and they're still on that site complaining. Quit posting how you wish that site was like the old board. Yes, I know no board will ever live up to the old IMDB board, but we can start new, fresh, and build something fun. I won't stop posting this sites link, and telling people about this great site. I still bring it up on FB groups, and the other forums. I ignore the naysayers, and want people to make their own choice, and not go with the herd.

Why do you come here?

Why do you come here?
Initially curiosity after the old IBDb boards closed - I'd read them with interest for quite some time without ever wanting to join, because of how often it seemed interesting conversations were hijacked by ill-mannered yobs and interesting people were insulted by them. Not sure how and why that is fun to some people, but apparently it is.
Like you said, here is a clean start, and despite some unpleasantness, the vast majority of people posting her, like you, Mr Drifter, are good to talk to, swap ideas with and learn from. Unless and until that happy balance is tipped, I hope to make the most of things here.
And thanks for asking!

Thanks so much for all your comments. Yes, this site is for real, I am planning on keeping this forum going as long as I live and if the project do take off I really have plans on expanding it, a lot.

In the meantime, it's you guys that define this forum and keep it going and as long as you keep on coming here and asking me to improve stuff, I'll keep doing it. The only way I could consider closing this boards is if people completely stop visiting it and ask me to close it. This is your new home, make it like you wish, I'll be here with you all the way, as long as you keep wanting to make this your new home.

I'm here because I enjoy having conversations about movies and tv shows that I enjoy. It's always interesting to see what other people think, even if they disagree. On many occasions I've been able to re-evaluate my opinion of a show or episode because someone has said something which made me consider it in a different way. Being a new forum I'm not overwhelmed with posts that are 20-30 pages long and the conversations are all pretty friendly (as opposed to the last few years of IMDB where many posts devolved into two people, and their sock accounts, insulting each other instead of discussing their viewpoints).

Well, I'm just here because this is where I hide my porno stash. I keep it under the middle cushion of the couch in the staff lounge room.

No one would ever think to look for it there... :emoji_wink:

You might be missing your copy of Island of the Nymphomaniac Amazon Women. Um, I think Drifter took it.

Remind me never to sit on that couch
You'll be fine. Just don't look at it with a black light.

I'm here because ant-mac told me to come here. Actually, I was going to start checking out other forums when they announced that the imdb boards would be shutting down, and he pointed me here. I'm glad he did, because I really enjoy the discussions here. And as I've talked about and others have pointed out here, the lack of trolls is incredible. Like Gavin said, the constant attacks by the sock account folks got real old. Also, I haven't been called an SJW for liking any particular program or movie, so that's a huge plus.

I didn't know you were a SJW!

Well, this changes everything...

Ah, what's a SJW? :emoji_confused:
