Loved James Bolam in The Likely Lads, Only When I Laugh, and recently discovered the Bierdebeck Trilogy, which was an Alan Plater comedy /drama series with the delectable Barbara Flynn.

I remember first seeing him in ONLY WHEN I LAUGH as a kid. I really enjoyed that TV program.

However, I'll always remember him as Jack Ford in WHEN THE BOAT COMES IN. I enjoyed that TV show so much, I bought the DVD box set. It must be nearly time for another re-watch. :emoji_relaxed:

Didn't know really where to put this thread, so here it is.
Anyone watch the BBC quiz show Only Connect with Victoria Coren Mitchell? It's really a great idea, original, and makes you dig deep mentally to answer a single question. The Eggheads team, top quizzers themselves with their own show, entered a team in this and got well beaten.

Late night - overnight world news. Talking about Bill O'Reilly being canned. His x-show has already been named to: "The Factor". Also, they're beating on our illustrious President and how he lies.
Well, going to take a sleep aid and hope it works soon. Night ya'll...:emoji_bow::emoji_kissing_closed_eyes::emoji_zzz:

Tonight, the final 2 episodes of Broadchurch because I missed the penultimate one the previous week - I narrowly avoided spoilers at a do last night, but happened to mention I was behind and a collective intake of colleagues' breath suggested they'd just been talking about the big finish before I hoved into earshot. Their Very Tactful behaviour strongly suggests it'll be a treat!

I just started watching "The Thick of It" (for Peter Capaldi) and I love how sleazy it is! The camera work looks like "The Office". I don't always understand what they're saying due to the accents but I usually get the gist of it.

Glaswegian just has to be one of the best accents to rage and swear in, and well worth the effort you are putting into mastering the nuances! It was the great Sir Terry Pratchett who observed that all good swearing has an international component - but when you get round to the spinoff film In the Loop you'll get the Americans v. Tucker standoff of all time.

Never saw The Office - the inevitability of Gervase was too appalling to contemplate.

Love it! But have found it very odd to watch back-to-back with University Challenge - one is straightforward general knowledge, although touch stuff, but Only Connect is a crafty weasel of a quiz, where I'm chuffed out of all proportion if I ever get anything right at all! But I'm getting better at Pointless, so there is hope...

I finished up on THE TWILIGHT ZONE (1959) and have moved on to CRIME STORY, which I have enjoyed enormously so far.

On TV, I've seen the first couple of episodes of THE YOUNG POPE, which wasn't too bad at all.

Oh... and that TV show about that medical guy who travels around pretending to be a policeman...

Did you ever watch Golden Balls. I absolutely loved that one.

Not cerebral at all but full of lies and deception.
What? When? Who?
Title sadly means nothing to me (Golden Shot yes, Golden Girls ditto) - but your description fills me with envy and admiration - a show ripe for revival maybe?
